Well the Red Carpet season opened today for 2013 with the 70th Annual Golden Globes Awards and as to be expected there were some high’s and some low’s, there always are unfortunately.
Beauty is the accessory to that the gown of choice, but with cameras at every angle these days, to me it is the most important part as the face is the most looked at part of the body at such an event, so let’s see my top 5!
From nude lips, to deep plums, as well as gold washes to blue pops of colour across the eye, only a few dared to be bold with most make-up and hair looks beaming natural, effortless and classic.
My Number 1 Beauty look goes to Megan Fox – STUNNING!
She walked the Red Carpet and presented an award looking like she was on set at one of her photoshoots for Giorgio Armani, which she is the face for.
To me she looks so polished, without looking ‘overdone’ and I love the soft pink hue of lip, pressed on to look like a stain, matching the stunning earrings, plus the bold berry nail matching Megan’s clutch.
As you may know, I am such a ‘skin’ fan when it comes to make-up and this look has light, which I LOVE, with light contour across sockets and under the cheekbone.
The side wave hair was a hit with many on the night, but I feel Megan’s hair matched her entire theme as well as keeping the soft curl looking fresh right through the evening – it’s a must to know they will look good hours later. Let’s just say overall, Megan knows how too ‘Shin Bright like a Diamond’ in the words of Rihanna.
Number 2 on my list is Julianne Hough – PLAYFUL! Those eyes are electric with the contrast warm tones of gold and brown, teamed with the juicy glossy lip, which has not been a look we have seen for a while and boy, I’ll be getting my nude gloss out for my next client!
With such flawless skin and the golden tones from the hair and dress, the eye make-up is just exquisite! Blue eyes were born to be teamed with golden, copper tones to give warmth and I love the strong Lash for extra definition and drama.
Contouring was BIG on this year’s Red Carpet, and Julianne has a more subtle contour with a slight nude peach across the apple of the cheek matching the lip. Julianne’s newly cut hair in this style, pinned back and up lifts her face as well as adding a fun element to the overall look.
Look Number 3 for me this year goes too Jessica Chastain – CLASSIC!
Jessica had me from the movie The Help, that classic lip and hair is just what I’m seeing here, with a modern twist.
LOVING this on trend raspberry lip shade, which is the perfect pink with red hair, and a cool coloured dress to compliment.
Any brighter in the lip it could pull focus in the wrong way, especially with a pale complexion.
The subtle matching pink just on top of the cheekbone really gives a fresh vibe and lashes make this look pop for the eyes.
A simple bronzer could be easily used alone to wash across the socket of the eye to re-create this look.
Once again the soft classic curls a big hit on the Red Carpet, but Jessica, who is the face of YSL’s soon-to-be-released fragrance Manifesto, chose to slick both sides rather than one as many others did.
The part gives a classic twist as all back would have been very modern and may not of given the classic feel as much.
Number 4 Beauty look is the lovely Emily Blunt – CHIC Emily chose a very wearable look which just shows you can loo polished and sexy with easy to re-create hair and makeup!
The easy, yet outfit appropriate ballet inspired hair really shows off her facial features letting you really get a good look at the soft cocoa shade of shadow across the mobile lid, worked into the socket, blending out lightly over the brow bone to lift the eyes.
Those brows – LOVE – taupe brow powder is perfect to fill in any gaps you may have to enhance the shape.
Emily’s lip matching the earrings are a great contrast to the other neutral tones of the outfit and the eye makeup, creating that pop of colour that it needs to give extra wow against that gold.
Lastly, Number 5 for me is Jennifer Lawrence – Girly!
With such a stand out dress colour being a bright coral red, I am glad Jennifer didn’t try to match her lip to her dress, yet choosing for a very light stain to give a hint of the dress colour through her beauty look.
A rounder face always looks sharper with a strong contour shade under the cheekbone, but fresher when teamed with a nice highlighter above the cheekbone, which Jennifer is sporting here.
Jennifer’s eyes are showing some drama with a slight wing to extend and lift the outer eye area, adding in the smokey eyeliner worked into her shadow and of course the season trend of strong lashes.
Go Jennifer!
So, who were your favorite celebs?
So many looks, so many dresses and a lot of different lipstick shades!
Points to Remember;
Jessica Alba – Orange lip with olive skin can sometimes throw off a very yellow tinge, would of been better if dress was not a colour and more neutral.
Nicole Ritchie – Too matchy matchy with the powder blue dress and eye shadow, a smaller lighter amount would have been perfect!
Jennifer Lopez – I feel her foundation was too heavy, creating unnecessary shine rather than a gorgeous highlight, Less is Best!
