We are predicting that Michael Lo Sordo is set to be one of Australia’s greatest new women’s designers. His collection at RAFW wowed guests with its wearability and unique designs.
Sydney designer Michael Lo Sordo is rising up as one of Australia’s greatest new talents. His designs never fail to make women look beautiful, with his flirty hemlines and elegant cuts. Michael showcased his work on Day 4 of RAFW 2010, and he certainly outdid his performance from last year.
The collection featured a number of stunning floor length dresses, blazers and playful mini dresses. We have seen so much sheer this week, but Michael’s take to the new trend was executed with sophistication and wearability. To open the show was a floor length white dress with a sheer top, cinched waist and delicately pleated skirt. Tailored mini shorts and a matching white blazer were paired with classic black stilettos, and models wore their hair in a low sexy bun.
Panelling was favoured in stunning dresses and blazers that featuring a sheer line panel just above the hemline. These sheer bands that wrapped around the hemline of many designs, contrasted so well with the bold block colours in each piece.
Whilst Michael’s block colour pieces were beautiful, his use of prints throughout the collection was the key to its ultimate success. Michael chose to feature a stunning butterfly wing print in a range of colour combinations. Whilst the prints were included in gathered and draped mini dresses, they really shone through in floor length maxi dresses that contrasted a sheer top and a beautiful full skirt.
The blue wash of this signature print was the highlight of the collection, as it appeared in a matching blazer with gathered skirt combination. The printed blazer was a key favourite, and it also appeared in a dusted floral pink in a stunning satin. The feminine pink floral print was worked into a Grecian cut dress and contrasted with pale pink woven panelling.
Michael Lo Sordo’s collection is a highly accessible range, which is bound to attract a variety of stylish women. Its wearable colour palette is both feminine and powerful, combining classic nudes and black with lust worthy prints.
