18 year old Sydney talent Michael Dameski has been named the ultimate victor on So You Think You Can Dance Australia. Dameski won the highest number of votes, beating out the similarly very talented Lauren Seymour for the win.
The young Sydney teen played the lead role in the Australian production of Billy Elliot, prior to entering So You Think You Can Dance.
Dameski will take home $100,000 for his efforts, as well as a contract with judge Jason Gilikson’s acclaimed dance production, Burn The Floor, which will be touring the US and Europe.
‘This experience has changed my life,’ said Michael Dameski. ‘I never expected to make it so far, let alone become Australia’s favourite dancer. I have learnt and grown so much as a performer throughout this journey. The gift of this show is that it allows you to be recognised for what you have devoted your life to.’
Michael Dameski’s most memorable performance of the competition was his solo last week, which quickly went viral and has earned him great praise from judges and fans alike. Nigel Lythgoe, the original creator of So You Think You Can Dance has called the performance one of the best routines in the history of the show ‘or any where for that matter.’
