The Best Midi Finger Rings
You know it’s officially a trend when Chanel sends midi rings – rings that populate the top two sections of the finger, rather than the bottom – down the catwalk.
The full-finger ring look, on every knuckle, is the new way to display your manicure for summer.
And RESCU’s picked out the best for all styles and budgets.
Into sparseness, minimalism and pared-back looks? Lucky you – there are plenty of plain, unadorned options.
The key with plain midi rings is to layer them. Nasty Gal’s double-finger rings in gold, with a simple bar between them, shows the easy way, or for a more uptown look get Maiyet’s double open arch single ring, which loops over the knuckle to form two loops on either side.
Grabbing a plain set from Topshop, ASOS or Shopbop is the easiest way to ease into the look. Options for customisation include stars, hearts, small words and birds – mix and match across your fingers.
Don’t want decoration? Pick up Sole Society’s set of two curved gold midi rings, each doubled over to give the appearance of another ring. It’s clean and chic.
Want to make more of a statement? Cuff rings are wider bands across your finger segments, and give any outfit a rock-chick edge. Hello Parry at TheIconic has gunmetal sets of three cuff midi rings, while Julie Nolan for Anthropologie has cuff rings emblazoned with your zodiac sign’s stars.
However, the undisputed queen of midi cuff rings is Maria Francesca Pepe, a London-Italian designer whose jewellery is to die for. Her set of midi and ade (upper finger) cuff rings with spikes are bestsellers in gold, but we’re loving her two-ring midi set inlaid with the evil eye.
For opulence, encrusted and designed midi rings in mix-and-match formations are the new chic. Topshop’s pearl and silver ring sets are one way, Sole Society’s crystal-embedded set of four another. Wear them on a variety of fingers and differ them on each hand.
However, the most over-the-top way to take the trend has to be the full-finger ring covering every knuckle at once. Dominic Jones for Net-a-Porter has a hinged ‘cage’ ring that imprisons two segments of the finger, while we’re loving Bernard Delettrez’s bronze ring that drapes the whole finger in delicate butterflies.
Want to step away from metals? Erikcson Beamon has a knuckle-to-fingertip ring in polarised rhodium plating and crystals, a black and white modernist swirl up the finger.
However, our classic buy has to be the armoured plate ring from Maison Martin Margiela. Hinged in two places, the three-plate ring is the ultimate way to bring midi ring style to the office.
Will you be updating your ring wardrobe?

Naomi Campbell Criticises Victoria Beckham For Catwalk Whitewash
Naomi Campbell is taking her position as head of the Diversity Coalition very seriously.
And she’s even willing to take on other bigwigs in fashion about their ‘whitewashed’ catwalks – including old acquaintance Victoria Beckham.
Beckham’s last show was populated almost entirely with white models, with only one exception, and Campbell has said that she called her up to confront her about it.
The Diversity Coalition had put Beckham’s name on an open letter listing designers who fell south of properly colour-blind catwalk casting – she was alongside Gucci, Chanel and Calvin Klein.
However, Naomi’s now revealed that she actually called Beckham herself to ask her about the choice.
“I called Victoria and I spoke to her,” she said. “I don’t want to pinpoint anyone. It isn’t a blame game. Everyone’s name was on that letter because they’d done it. It could have been completely unintentional.”
Unfortunately she didn’t say what Victoria’s answer was.
Naomi has gone on the warpath for the rights of non-white models – some of whom have told her that casting agents say to them ‘This isn’t The United Colours Of Benetton’.
“There is no way to candy-coat this sort of thing,” Naomi commented gravely. We would have loved to be a fly on the wall for that conversation.

Karl Lagerfeld Sued For ‘Fat’ Comments
Karl Lagerfeld has been sued for comments about ‘curvy women’ in a French magazine.
He’s famous for his off-the-wall comments, but a series of remarks about ’round’ women have got him in hot water with a French action group, and they’re taking him to court.
In Le Grand 8, a French magazine, Lagerfeld blamed the intense costs of social security on ‘all the diseases caught by people who are too fat’, and insisted that ‘nobody wants to see curvy women on the catwalk’.
This isn’t the first time he’s caused ripples with comments about weight – he called Adele a ‘little too fat’ earlier this year.
The remarks in the magazine have now brought him legal troubles, with a French rights organisation called ‘Belle, Ronde, Sexy Et Je M’Assume’ (Beautiful, Curvy, Sexy And OK With It) taking him to court for ‘defamatory and discriminatory comments’.
‘Many young girls are insecure,’ said the president of the organisation, ‘and hearing such comments is terrible for them.’
There’s been no response from Lagerfeld.
What do you think – storm in a teacup or good move?
