Miranda Kerr has never been shy about her body – striding the runway in lingerie for Victoria’s secret – but her new advertisement with Reebok is more risqué than we’ve ever seen her before.
Miranda has been chosen to launch the brand’s new Skyscrape Forever trainers, targeted at women. The ensuing advertisement has made headlines internationally, reigniting debate over what’s appropriate in advertising and whether sex still sells.
The 30-second advertisement shows Miranda Kerr returning home after a work out, wearing her Reebok trainers. Miranda Kerr strips as she walks around her home, removing an item at a time until she is only in a pair of black briefs. Miranda steps into the shower, only to realise that she hasn’t removed her trainers yet. The tagline reads ‘so comfortable, you’ll forget you have them on.’
It’s undeniable that Miranda looks sexier than ever in this advertisement, and it’s likely that every woman in the world envies her perfect figure. However, responses online have been mixed, with many being vocal in their praise or condemnation of the promotion. Some have claimed that the ad underestimates the intelligence of young women, whilst others just want to see more Miranda Kerr.
Comments on the YouTube video are also mixed, from criticism including ‘The whole shower bit is 100% gratuitous… They basically just used a woman to get a man’s sexual attention.’ To arguments such as ‘It has a point, it is to show how light the shoes are and comfortable that she even forgets to take them off before taking a shower.’
