Miranda Kerr receives award at Instyle magazine and Audi Women of Style Awards and Lady Gaga has been banned from performing in Jakarta over morality issues.
At Instyle Magazine’s Women of Style Awards, 29 year-old Australian supermodel was honoured with the Reader’s Choicr Award, apparently to no-one’s surprise but her own!
The Victoria’s Secret model received her award with teary gratitude thanking the Award’s presenter, media personality Sally Obermeder, who is currently battling breast cancer.
“Um, sorry!” Kerr said, brushing away tears.
“I’m a little blown away, that was quite unexpected,” she said waving her hand in front of her face, before composing herself to finish her acceptance speech.
“I just want to say that it’s just really wonderful to be in this room full of all of you incredibly inspiring women, I’m all about empowering women and I’m doing my best to do that,” she said.
Logie award-winning actress Asher Keddie beat Bridesmaids star Rose Byrne and singer Natalie Imbruglia for the News and Entertainment category, while Pamela Easton and Lydie Pearson of Easton Pearson won the Fashion award. Former Home & Away and All Saints actress Alyssa McClelland received a $10,000 InStyle and Audi Style Scholarship, to help with her dream of being a director.
Indonesian national police have banned controversial pop diva Lady Gaga from performing in Jakarta, saying her show poses a threat to security and morality.
The National police senior commissioner, Boy Rafli Amar confirmed last night that the national authorities would decline to grant a permit.
Lady Gaga’s Indonesian promoter says more than 50,000 tickets have been sold for the June 3 concert at Jakarta’s main stadium at about $50 each.
Fans or ‘Little Monsters’ of the pop singer reacted over the Twittersphere.
”This does not diminish our admiration for love and mother monster,” wrote one fan.
Several Islamic groups have opposed the American performer’s concert, calling her ”dangerous”, saying she teaches fans to worship the devil, and ”will destroy our children’s sense of morality”.
Interior Minister Gamawan Fauzi said, ”We must protect all aspects of the Indonesian nation.”
