The rumour mill is in full drive ahead of the David Jones Spring/ Summer 2015 Fashion Show in Sydney, as three of Australia’s hottest names in fashion gathered yesterday for a steamy (but no doubt freezing) David Jones swimwear shoot. Twenty-nine year-old Jessica Gomes and twenty-one year-old Montana Cox were joined by Jesinta Campbell, sparking speculation that the former Miss Universe Australia is on her way to becoming David Jones’ newest face.
With the twenty-three year-old due to open the swimwear show for David Jones’ Spring/Summer Fashion launch this evening, Jesinta Campbell has already created a media buzz since appearing as part of David Jones’ Boxing Day sales in December last year. Engaged to Sydney Swans player Buddy Franklin, the model has twice the social media followers of current David Jones ambassadors Jessica Gomes and Montana Cox.
Many believe that the announcement would be David Jones’ answer to Myer’s incredible run of success with their own former Miss Universe Australia, Jennifer Hawkins, who revealed that she’s there to stay in our exclusive interview, here. The move would be a conscious shift for the department store to adopt a more relatable figure.
When asked about the prospect of signing as a new ambassador, Jesinta’s representative, Sharon Finnigan said, ‘Jesinta has been working with David Jones, project by project, for years… She loves the brand, she loves the company and has really enjoyed her time working with them.’
‘If an offer was to come up, of course she would jump on it.’
Speculation has also circulated about Sydney twins, Zac and Jordan Stenmark, who are rumoured to be the department store’s newest male acquisitions. When asked about the prospect at David Jones’ Autumn/Winter collections parade earlier this year, the pair seemed eager.
‘We’d love that… Being a David Jones ambassador is one of the top things to be in our industry, and being such an iconic brand and leader in fashion, they’re up there with the best in the world.’
When asked about taking the Spring/Summer 2015 runway, Jesinta said she’d be ‘lying if I said I wasn’t nervous… My last major parade was for Miss Universe and that was five years ago so it’s been a while since I’ve been on the runway’.
The fashion launch will see Jesinta joining Jessica and Montana, as well as Jason Dundas, Bridget Malcom, Alexandra Agoston, Cassie Lapthorne, Ruby Jean Wilson, Rob Moore and a host of others showcasing the best of David Jones’ new season styles.
