Yesterday, the MuchMusic Video Awards took place in Toronto so you
know we’ve got all the biggest stories from the event right here…
The Red Carpet
The red carpet for the MuchMusic awards have become known for extravagant red carpet arrivals and this year was on exception with
Canadian rockers Marianas Trench rolling up (literally) in inflatable
balls!
Simple Plan’s band members showed up in a pink limo and then
stepped onto the red carpet in tight white shorts and shirts showing off
their bellys. Ewwww!
Twilight star Nikki Reed was looking incredible in a black and white strapless dress by Ronald Abdala.
Pretty Little Liars star Shay Mitchell wore a sweet strapless feather corset
dress by Asos. We think the Pretty Little Liars girls are a group to
watch, they’ve been looking gorgeous at every event this year.
Coupled Up
After being hospitalized for malnourishment, iron deficency and
exhaustion, Selena Gomez proved her new bid of health to the world while
hosting the MuchMusic awards with Colin Farrell. The sweet teen shared
her hosting limelight with boyfriend Justin Bieber who made a surprise
appearance on stage. Bieber was, of course, a nominee and took out two
honours, one of which was the International Video of the Year by a
Canadian which he accepted from Gomez, joking, “Selena? Nice to meet
you. I’m Justin. Maybe we could go out some time?” Very funny, Bieber!
Another couple to joke about their once-secret relationship was
Vampire Diaries stars Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder. The pair walked
the red carpet and when asked who they were most excited to see,
Somerhalder cheekily replied, “Who am I most excited to see tonight?
Nina Dobrev!” Dobrev looked stunning in a strapless Georges Chakra
Couture dress while her boyfriend played it casual in a white shirt and
jeans.
The Performances
There were plenty of stellar performances from major names on the
night including Lady Gaga who performed twice, once opening the show
with her new single Edge of Glory and then again to close the show with
Born This Way. The latter performance showed Gaga emerging from an egg
in a feathered frock and tiger print blazer. Later, her dancers ripped
this off to reveal a glittery black pra and pants with blue hair stuck
on her armpits and crotch! Yes, seriously!
Gaga took out the UR Fave International Artist award despite everyone assuming it would be Britney Spears to take it out.
The Black Keys also performed on the night, as did Avril Lavigne
who made it down the red carpet without boyfriend Brody Jenner by her
side.
Selena Gomez and the Scene also performed and it was great to see a
teen pop sensation actually singing for once! Critics have been
kind and despite some wavering in her voice, she did a great job.
All in all, the MuchMusic Awards lived up to their reputation as
being one of the funnest, youngest and most carefree events on the
Awards calendar.
