Sometimes too much makeup can be a bad thing. Buying makeup can be expensive, having so much of it you’re confused and strapped for storage is annoying, and choosing what to travel with can be a nightmare. It’s time to slim down the beauty and get the most out of each product!
Multitasking beauty products are becoming a highly requested item in the cosmetics industry, and why not? Saves time, saves money – genius! The good thing is, you probably have most of these items in your makeup bag already, so I’m going to share my timesavers that work for me when time has gotten away from me…
COMPLEXION
Two shades of Concealer can do wonders and give great skin. Choose one more to your skin tone, with a warm undertone and the other two shades lighter to add light to the face.
When time is poor, applying foundation can take time – no one wants un-blended lines…
MB PRO TIP;
I love to mix my moisturiser into a little concealer and apply to the face for a bright and even, fresh glow – perfect for redness around the nose and cheeks.
Then you can use the concealer as normal for under eye circles and spots.
I then use the lighter shade concealer over the top of the under eye circle area to brighten what you have just concealed as well as placing the lighter shade of concealer lightly above cheekbones, under peak of brow, inner eye tear duct, centre of nose, cupids bow and the centre of the chin…
Who knew concealer could do SO much to get a great complexion.
*The two shades can also be mixed together if skin tone changes

I love the new Laura Mercier High Coverage Concealer (RRP $39)

I would say a Bronzer is one of my most used products in my work as a Makeup Artist, it just can do so much!
The perfect anti-ageing makeup product as you can really sculpt and lift the face with this fab all rounder item.
It can also be a great way to give colour and a healthy, all over glow to the skin…
MB PRO TIP;
I use a bronzer as a contouring product for the face, sculpting in and under a bone area to lift and recede the area to give more lift and shape.
I find a angled brush works best and is amazing when applied under the cheekbones, sides of nose (lightly of course) and amazing in the eye sockets to de-puff the area.
It is a great ‘base’ colour eye shadow also, as it will contrast against your eye colour and add more depth/shape to the eye.
*Bronzer works so well as it is deeper than your skin tone, but still a complexion pigment, not that of eye shadow for example…
It will add depth when applied, but give great blend, perfect for the first timers especially for an eye shadow wash across mobile eyelid.
I love the Bobbi Brown Bronzing Powder (RRP $60)

EYES
Sometimes there is no time for Eye shadow…
But wearing Eyeliner alone as one line can quite often close the eye area, as there is no depth into the sock area, which will open the eye.
Why carry bulky eye shadow when you can use your eyeliner?
MB PRO TIP;
Apply your Kohl Pencil (not waterproof or liquid) to the lashline, slightly thicker than you would mormally…
Then using a nylon/synthetic, small and firm brush, pull up the liner pigment into the eye area – you can choose to just smudge the liner a little, keeping the liner shape or completely smudging it up and outwards, into the eye socket to become an eye shadow.
The easiest and quickest smokey eye with one product, and when smudged into an eye base (like a matte concealer), it will stay all day.
*You can incorporate different shades if you wish for different effects, or just add more liner to outer corner for more shading. This can also be applied over shadow for more depth, or you can apply shadow over the top
I always use the Lancôme Crayon Kohl (RRP $47)

Most think there is not much else you could do with Mascara, but there is one more thing…
I have been in that situation before when I have forgotten to pack liquid style eyeliner, especially when needing that Hollywood glam winged liner flick.
MB PRO TIP;
With a very fine tip brush, dip into your mascara wand (needs to be fresh and not old and dry) and this will give you the liquid you need to draw a fine line across your lashes for that winged Hollywood liner trend.
Sometimes, as it did for me, you have to think outside the box!
My fave Mascara is the Avon Mega Effects (RRP $19.99)

A general, everyday, neutral Eye Shadow palette can be dressed up and dressed down so well… Use all 4 shades for high impact and contouring, or use one as an eyelid wash…
But what about your Brows? They need love too and when shaded and shaped correctly, can be anti-ageing when not too thin!
A palette that mixes x2 matte shades and x2 pearl or metallic shades are perfect as you can create depth and recede the eye, but also brighten and create volume with the metallic shades.
MB PRO TIP;
Matte shades, when in the correct tones like a deep brown and taupe are perfect to then use as an eyebrow powder!
Use an angled, small eyebrow brush and add the eyeshadow in small amounts, just like an eyebrow powder – taupe shade is my most used.
Start adding depth at the inner brow, filling in gaps only, then add, in a feathering application, colour above the natural brow line to give more shape and brush brow hairs over this line so it becomes disguised.
*Taupe shades of eyeshadow can also be used for contouring on the face and also for darker skin tones, an eyeshadow in a deep chocolate could be your contouring answer also.
My Go-To neutral palette is the Tom Ford Quad Palette, Cocoa Mirage (RRP $100)

LIPS
A Lipstick is the best way to lift any tired or dull face…
A creamy texture pop of colour that can show your personality, look good and really change a whole makeup look with one application. But, it can also lift your cheeks, adding a smooth, fresh colour to the apples giving a plump, lifted look.
MB PRO TIP;
I love applying lipstick with my fingertip, to me, it allows lip pigment to melt and bond to lip stronger than applying with a brush.
As you are dabbing colour into your lip with the fingertip, use any excess on the apple of the cheeks and massage in for a hint of colour.
The more you massage the more the colour fades, so it really is foolproof for anyone to try.
*Choose your colour wisely, and if it is a bold colour like a red, use a very small amount. Pink and Peach tones work best.
I love the Inika Lipsticks (RRP $36.50) with Vitamin E for this tip, as they are all natural!

So ladies, you can see 6 products really do cut it for Time Saving, Multi-Tasking Makeup!
