Polishing your nails has become a serious style statement and, here at RESCU, we don’t really feel an outfit is complete without the perfect polish to match.
Nail polish is the new affordable luxury and Spring is seeing a plethora of new takes on polish.
We’ve gone to the experts to get their take on nail trends and picked a few favourites to help you nail spring and summer nail trends.
Cool Ca
mouflage
Sophisticated camouflage shades are a great way to compliment all the nude tones and relaxed fashion we are seeing for Spring/Summer.
Chanel Limited Edition Le Khaki Collection
To celebrate Vogue’s Fashion night Out, Global creative director for Chanel Makeup Peter Phillips is launching a new collection ‘Les Khakis de Chanel’. It includes three sophisticated, wearable and urban colours that can be worn alone or combined. The collection includes Khaki Vert; a camouflage green, Khaki Rose; a burnt rose and Khaki Brun; the perfect army brown. We sense this collection will be a favourite of every socialite, celebrity and fashionista in coming months.

Pretty in Pastel
London and New York’s spring/summer 2010/2011 collections showed us whimsical, feminine dress is back and what better way to finish off a pretty Spring look than with candy coloured pastel nails.
Orly Sweet Collection
Orly has introduced a gorgeous collection of six rich crème shades. Orly RAFW Creative Director and celebrity manicurist Fiona Hay told us summer pastels will be translated from the SS10/11 runways into the hottest, must-have beauty looks for summer. Of the latest Orly collection, she said, “this summer is all about punchy pastels and the ORLY sweet collection is inspired by all of Summer’s deliciousness”.
Hay’s top picks are Snowcone, a chilly blue crème, and Lollipop, a smooth lilac.
Available from selected salons, pharmacies and online at www.orlybeauty.com.au ($18.95)
Bold Brights
Vivid nail art strutted down the Zac Posen runway amongst other shows at New York fashion week. Brights were used on their own and in designs for attention-grabbing nails.
OPI Summer Flutters
Fun, colourful and lively, this collection captures the more playful trends of summer. OPI has introduced four flirty new shades including Wing It; a shimmery fuchsia, Flit a Bit; a bright orange, Flower-to-Flower, a vibrant hot pink and Catch Me in Your Net; a shimmery teal. Neat application is vital for brights and you can’t go wrong with OPI’s ProWide Brush for the ultimate smooth, streak-free application.
Available from late October in David Jones and selected salons ($19.95)
Glitter Revival
Rescu. couldn’t be happier to announce that this Spring/Summer we can all embrace our childish side and wear glitter on our fingernails again. Australian Designer Toni Maticevski showed glitter polish on the ring fingers of his models down the runway at New York Fashion Week as a cool take on the trend. (pictured)
Zoya Ultra Glitter Limited Edition Collection
Zoya is out to prove that sophistication and sparkle can co-exist with this amazing new collection. Three amazing new shades including silver, a warm pink with deep red glitter and a magenta with pink and purple glitter flicks have been released and all three really pack a punch.
Available from selected salons and spas nationally or online at www.zoya.com.au ($17.00)
Modern Neutrals
Neutral polishes are making a comeback in a big way. The new neutral is bold and mature, best worn on short, squared nails.
Bloom Kim
Bloom’s latest shade is the perfect taupe and is the easy way to jump on board the latest celebrity trend. Gwyneth Paltrow, Sandra Bullock, Kate Beckinsale and a whole host of out favourite celebs have all been spotted sporting taupe-tinted manicures lately. We love this amazing new shade and it seems to go with just about everything in our wardrobes – taupe just might be the new black.
Available at David Jones, Myer and online at www.bloomcosmetics.com ($19.95)
RevitaNail Sheer Elegance
Dr LeWinn’s Revitanail’s polishes are infused with nail strengthening properties so you can protect and harden your nails while wearing the latest shades. Three new colours have been introduced for Spring/Summer and we are coveting Sheer Elegance, a subtle nude pink with an on-trend matte finish. This universally flattering shade looks great with any skin tone and will complete any Spring/Summer outfit.
