By Marja RöntyNapoleon Perdis, the boy who picked up a make-up brush at the age of 13 to help out his mother, hasn’t looked back since. The Sydney-to-Hollywood international make-up artist and global beauty force helped kick up a storm at the recent New York Fashion Week with his work for Kaelen.
Kaelen Farncombe’s Spring/Summer 2011 runway show was inspired by chasing tornados. The designer recently took a trip to witness the nature’s tempestuous powerhouses and the result was a fresh and relaxed collection of mix-and-match designs in draped silks and washed leathers that multitasked both as standalone pieces or sets.
Perdis drew his inspiration from the flowing sense of ‘chaos to calm’ that tornados create for the spectator.
His make-up was very fresh and beautiful, with luminosity on the inner corner of the eyes. The lips were peach in colour with a creamy appeal.
Freshness came through on the models’ cheeks and the entire look was clean, simple and definitely wearable.
“The colours of the make-up complemented the collection really well. It’s New York feel meets LA-freshness!” Perdis enthused.
