When transitioning from season to season, it’s a good idea to update your makeup routine. Going from summer to cooler-weather makeup is a little like swapping your airy cotton sweater for a cashmere one – think stronger, richer and warmer. I love Fall – it’s the perfect time to start over, recharge, renew. As the seasons flow into each other, your beauty routine should too. You don’t need to put away your bronzer after summer – find a way to update your look by adding new fall lip or eye colours into the mix.
Skin First
First things first – adjust your skincare routine accordingly to the change in weather. It’s important to keep skin well moisturised year around but opt for a lightweight moisturising lotion for everyday wear. Exfoliate your skin once a week to get rid of any summer flakiness and switch to a use a richer, slightly heavier moisturiser to protect your skin for the cooler and drier weather. (You should still use a moisturiser with built-in sunscreen to protect you from the sun’s damaging rays).
Complexion Update
After you’ve gotten all the sand out of your shoes and returned to work, put away the sheer tinted moisturizer and opt for the more polished look of foundation and concealer. Instantly brighten up your face with concealer—it’s the makeup product that can change your life. To make dark circles disappear, begin by choosing a concealer that is one shade lighter than your foundation. Using a Concealer Brush, apply Creamy Concealer under the eye up to the lower lashes and on the innermost corner of the eye, making sure to blend gently using the pads of your fingertips. After that, smooth foundation over your skin to create a flawless, even finish. Our new Skin Nourishing Glow Foundation is a great option—it’s a hybrid foundation that combines skincare with treatment benefits and buildable coverage, perfect for the fall.
Simple Swaps
The switch from summer shades to fall makeup doesn’t have to be drastic. Simple adjustments can make all the difference. Don’t immediately switch to darker shades, you can still use bronzer lightly dusted on your forehead, cheeks, nose, and chin if you find that you’ve lost your summer glow.
For the cheeks, I love a rosy, wind-burnt look. Try Pot Rouge in Blushed Rose — it will give you a sheer, natural finish. Apply a few dots to the apples of your cheeks and blend back toward the hairline using your fingers or a makeup sponge.
Finish by enhancing lips with a touch of color. My Nourishing Lip Colors are great for the fall because not only do they give the perfect amount of color, they also moisturise, hydrate and condition.
The look for complexion in autumn is about creating a flawless, natural-looking skin with a natural matte finish or a sheer, luminous glow.
