While Kings Cross is typically associated with packed clubs and late nights, new lounge club No Vacancy is breaking all the stereotypes. An intimate lounge situated on a side street in Potts Point beneath a vintage, flickering pink “No Vacancy” motel sign, the club features signature cocktails, soft candlelight, exposed brick walls, and quirky details.
The club launched exclusively to media and celebrities on Thursday night, followed by a grand opening to the general public on Friday night. Guests dined on canapés, including pesto arancini balls and citrus mayonnaise and mini Wagu burgers, by the talented head chef, Tristen Johnsen from The Village, and sipped on mouth-watering cocktails in yellow plastic cups.
Taga Paa from The Voice, Jay Lyon, Morgan Griffin and Geordie Robinson were among the few to enjoy the newly renovated club interiors. Formerly the home of club “21”, Graham Cordery is the man responsible for the club’s redesign and concept. Inspired by the boutique lounge clubs in Los Angeles after extensive USA travels, Cordery devised a drink menu comprised of traditional favourites along with not-so-traditional cocktails, such as an espresso, honey and chilli-ed coriander drink. Meant to be sipped slowly, enjoying every note, drinks were devised to transport patrons to the different eras of 1950s and 1960s. If you’re not in the mood for crowds and queues, this sophisticated and chic lounge will be your new night destination.
