Time for a new look? Here are four innovations for your crowning glory…
1. New colour
Channel Nicole Richie’s new darker shade with a colour change this New Year. “I was sick of being blonde, so we decided to dye it brown,” Richie says.
Home hair colour has come a long way, but if you’re making big colour changes, follow Richie’s lead and seek professional help. Richie’s colourist, Tracey Cunningham, has given the starlet-turned-jewellery-designer a rainbow of colours over the years, but Richie’s hair has maintained its good health thanks to low chemical hair colour.
“Tracey has changed my hair colour so many times over the past four years, but she’s managed to keep my hair in great shape in the process,” Richie says.
2. Cool cuts
If you’re thinking about going short, take your cues from actress and Girls Aloud singer Sarah Harding. Harding’s side swept fringe and super short sides will keep her on the razor edge of fashion.
For other celebrities who love cool crops, pull the style file on Rihanna and Brit model Agyness Deyn.
3. Master a new style
We may be through the party season, but there’s still plenty of summer fun to be had – and plenty of reasons to try out a new summer hairstyle. Get creative with hair accessories such as the feathered adornments seen on the Lanvin runway – or take your cues from Marc by Marc Jacobs with his oversized bows.
If the night is hot, go chic and sleek with one of Gucci’s slick ponytails secured tightly at the nape of the neck, or add some height with plenty of teasing at the crown like the high drama ponies at Marc Jacobs Fall collection.
4. Bio Ionic Hair straightening
Coveting straight locks like Ashlee Simpson? Dial Bio Ionic. This Japanese developed hair straightening system uses a natural mineral complex that emits negative ionic, infrared and electromagnetic waves into the hair simultaneously to shatter water molecule clusters into micro-fine particles. This allows the Bio Ionic formula to penetrate the hair shaft and straighten the hair.
Unlike traditional chemical straightening procedures (and, yes, ok excessive use of straightening irons), Ionic hair straightening only requires one appointment and actually leaves hair smooth, soft, shiny and yes, super straight. Great news for those of us who suffer from humidity or beach induced frizz.
