It’s well and truly holiday season. Not only is Christmas rushing towards us, but the new year is also on the horizon. Here at Rescu, we’re all about making resolutions to last, whether it be choosing something small, and easy to factor into your busy schedule (yoga once a week, a set night devoted to just reading), or a 5-point plan to make sure you reach your goals. After the rush of Christmas day, take some time to decide what you will value, prioritise, or begin this upcoming year.

House of Waris RARE for Net-a-Porter
If there’s a man who understands the words ‘value,’ ‘prioritise,’ and ‘begin,’ it is Waris Ahluwalia. Placed on Vanity Fair’s Best Dressed List in 2010 and constantly snapped around the world by street style photographers, the launch of his design and fashion brand ‘House of Waris RARE’ is an extension of the actor and designer’s love of travel and the ancient world, as well as his impeccable personal style.
The collection, which is available to shop at Net-a-Porter, brings together independent artisans and historic brands from over 14 countries, including Italy, Turkey, Brazil and Morocco. Curated by Waris, the collection seeks to divine unique items that tell a story through craftsmanship and materials, ranging from fine scents, accessories and objects d’art. Though Waris was raised in New York, his lust for travel sends him across the globe, and the result is this tightly curated collection of pieces. Ideal as a gift, all have been selected to love and last forever.

Fitness Resolutions with The Outnet
We don’t have hard numbers to back us up, but we think we are correct in guessing that fitness would be the number one New Year’s resolution for many Australians. And we don’t have any evidence for this either, but it is a truth universally acknowledged that almost everyone is more inspired to work out in shiny new work out clothes.
Enter The Outnet. The Outnet’s sportwear edit contains the much-needed rejuvenation that your gym attire needs. Labels including Stella McCartney, T by Alexander Wang and Lucas Hugh all feature along with a multitude of others.
Rescu. Loves: The Adidas by Stella McCartney pieces in candy colours and brights, as well as the high shine and wet look Lucas Hugh running shorts and leggings. Who says you shouldn’t feel just as glamorous working as you do going out?

MAMBO Pops Up for Customs House
MAMBO feels as much of an Australian icon as Anzac biscuits, koalas, or the harbour bridge, which is why it is so fitting that celebrated MAMBO artist Reg Mombassa is the creative ambassador of the City of Sydney New Year’s Eve this year. We’re loving the MAMBO-inspired imagery on buses and posters, and we can’t wait to find out what image will shine bright at the end of the fireworks display!
In celebration of this event, MAMBO and City of Sydney are hosting a pop up bar and store at Custom’s House until January 5th, 2014.
With live art, music, a bar and store selling Mambo’s signature designs, the pop up is sure to be a tourist mecca, as well as a place for locals to bask in a celebration of the irreverent, yet sweet embodiment of Australian culture that Mambo embodies. A 3.6 metre inflatable dog has also been commissioned to hang out at the site, which might become this year’s equivalent of the inflatable rubber duck that graced Sydney Harbour last summer.
Over the Christmas and New Year period, MAMBO’s in-house team of artists, as well as guest artists will create artworks live at the site- a great idea for a holiday outing with the kids, and in the evenings, the bar will host DJs and Quay Bar will serve food and drinks as the sun sets over the Harbour. There’s nothing like Summer in Sydney.
