Drop the bronzer ladies; the beauty looks from the coveted runways at New York Fashion Week 2013-14 stormed in through the blizzard bringing with them the hottest trends for our very own Autumn/ Winter season.

Never one to play it low key, it was the united states of Oscar de La Renta (left) with four different looks appearing on the runway for his diverse ready to wear collection and your every personality. Revlon Global Artistic Director, Gucci Westman created four girls, “gypsy, sophisticate, urban chic and East Asian jet setter.” From the cherry cola, nude and ‘Backstage Red’ lips to the clear, fresh and clean skin –it’s hard to pick a winner, but Rescu. loves the East Asian Trend setter lip, we recommend Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in Cherries in the Snow ($21.95).
The gypsy look continued at Mara Hoffman (right) with a more modern nomad theme supported by winged eyeliner. The layering of deep navy eyeliner on top of black provided a suitably mysterious and alluring look, perfect for those chilly winter nights.
J Mendel (left) proved that less is more when it comes to sophistication. You can get a simultaneously simple and luxurious look with the glossy, copper and autumn hues and lightly tinted natural lips. The skin was, again, dewy and flawless and you know how we can’t get enough of complexion perfection. For flawless skin, Rescu. recommends Revlon PhotoReady Crème Blush in Flushed ($26.95)
Lacoste (middle) followed suit by enhancing the model’s natural beauty, celebrating sports luxe with warm earthy and bronzed tones that compliment any skin tone. “We gave definition to the eyes with a bronze shadow and an eggplant eyeliner,” says Maybelline NY makeup artist Charlotte Willer.
Taupe was the colour of the hour at Richard Chai (right) and provided the perfect winter smoky eye.
Applied to the lash line and buffed towards the brow, the look was softened with a little eye shadow applied to the lower lash line and using a finger, smudged towards the outer corner of the eye. Rescu. recommends using Maybelline NY Color Tattoo in Tough as Taupe ($11.95)
Strong brows and romantic cheekbones led the way at Marchesa (left) matching the angelic and ethereal collection. Despite Marchesa being one of the celeb go-tos for Oscar-ready gowns, the makeup look is accessible and will transport your look to the realm of effortless-chic.
Revlon Global Artistic Director, Gucci Westman said, “I started with flawless, matte skin and added a great rosy cheek. For the eyes, I traced a small amount of black liquid liner across the top lid, used brown liner on the bottom lid, added a thin coat of mascara just to lift the lashes and finished with a bit of a strong brow.”
The same can be said for the simple, clean beauty and bold brows at DKNY (right) and we love the light, dusting of rose on the cheeks for that natural flush. Rescu. loves Maybelline FITme Blush in Light Rose ($14.95)
The nail looks included short, rounded, cashmere coloured nails at Chado Ralph Rucci, decadent, shiny and deep liquorice nails at Naeem Kahn and glittery tips at Jenny Packham.
For the princess nails at Jenny Packham Rescu. recommends after using starting from the lower second half of the nail draw light strokes with Essie’s set in stones nail polish towards the edge. Seal the deal with the good-to-go topcoat.
There was twist on the classic French manicure at Marissa Webb; square-shaped nails with deep red polish with gold tips, and white polish with black tips. At Mara Hoffman, nails were seen with black polish and half-moon on tips with shades of grey and silver. Classic, pale fingernails were short and square in shape with just one coat were on display at Marchesa.
