Nigella Lawson Leaves Husband
Over the weekend, horrifying images of celebrity chef Nigella Lawson being chocked by her advertising tycoon husband Charles Saatchi were published in Britain’s Sunday People.
The couple, who have been married nearly ten years, were dining at one of their regular haunts, Scott’s in Mayfair, when images of Saatchi grasping at Lawson’s throat threateningly, pinching her nose, and pushing both hands in her face were snapped. Onlookers told Sunday People that the pair were in the middle of a heated argument that saw the kitchen queen reduced to tears before 70-year-old Saatchi became aggressive.
After the incident, which eyewitnesses described as, “utterly shocking” and “horrific”, Saatchi stormed out of the restaurant into a waiting car.
Just hours after the pictures were leaked and the public outcry had erupted, reports that Nigella had packed up a suitcase and left her marital home were released. The 53-year-old mother of two was spotted getting in to a taxi with nothing but a suitcase and her teenage son.
There is no doubt Saatchi’s treatment of Lawson was absolutely unforgiveable and the public outcry has been loud. Police are investigating the incident and we can only hope.
MuchMusic Awards
Each year Canada honours its biggest music stars at the MuchMusic Video Awards in Toronto and each year (or at least the last several) Justin Bieber makes the biggest splash as one of Canada’s most celebrated exports.
Despite the fact that bad boy Bieber is out on tour causing trouble in countries all over the world and therefore couldn’t make it to the event, he still managed to make headlines at the event where he picked up the favourite artist trophy, beating out fellow Canadians Carly Rae Jepsen, deadmau5, Drake and Marianas Trench.
Another of Canada’s biggest exports and a MMVA regular, Avril Lavigne, took out the best international video by a Canadian artist for Here’s to Never Growing Up.
Taylor Swift’s presence made up for the lack of Justin Bieber as the star was on hand to accept the favourite artist or group award. Demi Lovato took home the international video of the year award for her song ‘Heart Attack’ and proved herself a worthy winner with a performance of ‘Give Your Heart a Break’ which transitioned into the award winning track.
The big night for Canada’s music scene ended with a stellar performance of Gentlemen by Psy who co-hosted the event.
Kim Kardashian Gives Birth
Over the weekend Twitter was aflurry with the news that Kim Kardashian had given birth to a daughter five weeks earlier than her due date.
The rumours started quickly and soon enough a source had confirmed to the New York Daily News that 32-year-old Kim had given birth at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.
Soon enough, sister Khloe had tweeted about the new addition to the family, saying, “I can not even begin 2describe the miracle that is now apart of our family. Mommy/baby are health &resting. We appreciate all of the love… More info will come when the time is right!” Kris Jenner later confirmed the news and wished Kanye a happy Father’s Day.
The Kardashian flam have promised to reveal more information when the time is right. We’re placing bets on names starting with ‘K’ as we type!
