In the wake of their milestone 100th birthday, Nivea have launched the results of a unique survey that decoded the language of skin to show a correlation between skin type and personality.
THE SURVEY
In a quest to answer the question of whether there is a correlation between biography, personality and skin type, Nivea launched a huge international Skin Survey to discover our skin’s deepest secrets. Eight thousand men and women participated in this beauty survey of epic proportions, with exciting and insightful results. The two-part survey first asked people about their personality and the second part asked questions about their skin, with the findings showing a clear correlation between our self-perception and the perception we have of our skin. From this theory, five skin personality types were born that had nothing to do with a person’s age, gender or cultural background.
What’s your skin personality?
The Nivea international Skin Survey discovered five skin personalities…
Doers
This is the most common skin personality with around 30% of the population. ‘Doers’ assume responsibility for themselves and their skin. They are heavy users of skin products and are willing to work hard on improving their appearance. Their skin is a key aspect of their self-perception and they love to be touched.
Thinkers
Introverted and pragmatic people, ‘Thinkers’ tend to be rational towards life and their skin. They use practical skin care products and you’ll most likely find deodorant, basic care products and sunscreen on their bathroom shelves. ‘Thinkers’ take a relaxed approach to accepting changes to their skin, such as wrinkles. For them, the skin is a chapter in their life biography.
Seekers
‘Seekers’ balance between the need to be successful by their own actions and the desire to conform to rules and expectations. People with this skin personality suffer from blackheads and impurities more than people in other categories. In some phases of life, ‘seekers’ feel that they are at the mercy of the world, which is reflected by their skin.
Helpers
The most emotional of all the skin types, ‘Helpers’ are spontaneous individuals who are driven by moods and intuition. Because they are so emotional, ‘helpers’ sometimes have problems that literally ’get under their skin’. This group have sensitive skin that is prone to irritation and sometimes even allergic reactions. ‘Helpers’ love applying cream to their skin and prefer skin products with unusual ingredients and special fragrances.
Moralists
They are the most introverted of all skin personalities, even though they long to be more open and have more influence. ‘Moralists’ find it difficult to be touched and often only allow people whom they trust completely to touch them. They are heavy users of skin products but have dry, combination and very sensitive skin. They are the only group to describe their skin as dull and pale and are prone to dark rings under the eyes and an uneven tone.

THE CELEBRATION
A hundred year birthday deserves an epic celebration, and Nivea didn’t disappoint our party standards. For their one century milestone, an entire cruise ship was transformed into a blue Nivea experience world, where guests were pampered and presented with the science behind the skin care brand. The party was kicked off with an exclusive live performance from gorgeous international superstar, Rihanna and continued for two days of skin care heaven.
