Olivia Palermo gets excited by stylish bargains, while Gwyneth Paltrow is the new face of ‘Modern Preppy’, a campaign for Scandinavian chain Lindex.
The former ‘City’ star loves discovering high street copies of runway trends that “don’t break the bank”, and she is especially keen on finding cheap accessories to dress up a particular look.
“The trick is taking a runway trend and incorporating it into your wardrobe in a way that doesn’t break the bank. Blend them with your personal style”, the style icon explained.
“It’s not about how much a piece of jewelry costs – if it’s $2, well then that’s even more exciting.”
Olivia admitted she also is a fan of up and coming London-based designers, and she likes to mix pieces from the collections of the likes of Matthew Williamson and Markus Lupfer with those from “bigger names”.
She added in an interview with LifestyleMirror.com, “I love supporting younger, London-based designers like Matthew Williamson and Markus Lupfer.
“I’ll wear them, as well as some bigger names from time to time, but it’s that high low mix that’s important.”
The 39-year-old actress has both a “sexy cool” and “easy chic” style which she ultimately describes as “modern preppy”.
She is quoted by MailOnline as saying, “On the red carpet, I like to wear things that are modern and elegant and I like to push it a little bit.
“My style is modern preppy because I grew up wearing a uniform, always starting from a peppy aesthetic and making my own twist on it.
“I love stripes, I wear them almost every day in my life.”
Gwyneth – who has children, Apple, seven, and five-year-old Moses with her Coldplay frontman husband Chris Martin – is currently starring a campaign for the Swedish company called ‘Modern Preppy’, which sees her working her favourite styles.
A spokesperson for the brand admitted choosing the blonde beauty as an “easy one” because she fits the look perfectly.
They explained, “When Gwyneth isn’t wearing elegant gowns on the red carpet, her style preference is stripes and ‘casual chic’.
“The decision to use her as Lindex’s model was an easy one, since she is practically synonymous with the ‘Modern Preppy’ look.”
