Prince William and Kate Middleton have been delighting the lucky Canadians for several days now so we thought we’d devote today’s Celebrity Spotlight to catching up on everything the Royal couple have been up to.
The First Night
There’s no time for jet-lag recovery when you’re a royal, Kate and Wills were out and about on their very first night in Ottawa Canada to attend the barbeque for young people at Rideau Hall’s Tent Room.
Kate wore a casual dress by one of her favourite designers, Issa, with wedges. Her husband was also dressed down for the event in an open-necked blue shirt and khaki pants.
As the pair walked in to the room, all of the 120 guests fell silent to which Wills said simply, “Talk among yourselves.”
Oh Canada!
On Canada day, hundreds of thousands of people gathered in Ottawa to see Will and Kate arrive in an open horse-drawn carriage.
The Duchess, true to her word, repeated an outfit, choosing the cream Reiss dress she wore in her official engagement photographs for the event. She topped it off with the Queen’s maple leaf brooch and a bright red maple leaf fascinator designed by Sylvia Fletcher at Lock and Co.
Wills spoke of the closeness the pair felt to Canada saying, “[Kate] heard about Canada not from her parents, but from her grandfathers, a wonderful man who passed away last year. [He] held this country dear to his heart, for he trained in Alberta as a young pilot during the Second World War.”
The evening of Canada Day had fireworks and live music in store for the couple who were spotted looking relaxed, happy and completely in love.
Kate changed into a stunning dress from favourite label Issa. The maple leaf brooch she had worn earlier and simple black pumps complemented the regal purple jersey dress.
Getting Domestic
After a happy Canada day, the couple planted an Eastern Hemlock tree in the shadow of the Pine Oak Williams parents, Charlies and Diana, planted on the Prince’s first birthday.
Kate, who was wearing a grey Catherine Walker dress, helped out with the shovel and the pair smiled as they planed a symbol of their love.
he next day, Wills and Kate continued with the domestic duties, heading to Montreal’s top cooking school for a lesson with Quebec’s premier Jean Charest who is also an accomplished chef. The pair looked truly adorable in their chefs whites!
Set Sail
The Duke and Duchess spent a night aboard the Canadian frigate HMCS Montreal to join 200 sailors for a Sunday morning prayer service.
Maison Dauphine, a local organisation that assists youth at risk, was on the agenda next. One of the members who showed the couple around said, “The kids were all sitting at a table, and they were intimidated. [William] told them at one point, ‘Don’t ever let people put you down—because a Prince looks up to you.” Kate looked stunning in an electric blue Erdem Moralioglu dress and once again the public expressed how kind and genuine the couple are and how obvious their love and connection is.
