I love a detox! I also love a re-tox! More recently I’ve learnt that the key to staying aligned for me, is practicing the art of listening to the wisdom of my body and giving it what its asking me for, sometimes that’s cheese and red wine for dinner, but after years of issues with my body image and guilt because I believed that to be clearer in my work I shouldn’t be eating sugar or drinking alcohol, its an interesting and freeing experience.
I do believe that its important to be as clear as possible in my line of work, I also believe that it is very important that you feel connected and clear within yourself, no matter what you do, sometimes that relates to what you eat, and sometimes it doesnt.
The truth is, certain foods do impact on how you feel and also how clear your energy is. When your system is clear of substances like coffee, sugar, alcohol, your probably going to find that your sense of intuition is stronger, and that your mind feels less busy. I know that one of the benefits I’ve enjoyed when I’ve been detoxing is the sense of calm and clarity I feel, being really present in the moment, a nice change from being a week or 4 ahead of yourself. I think it is important to do what feels true for you while knowing your options are always open.
I recently did a 4 week sugar detox. So nothing with sugar, nothing at all, no carbs, no dark chocolate, no red wine, NO sugar anywhere in our house….. I would go for night runs with a friend on a Saturday night and rave on about how wonderful it felt to be so clear, and it did feel amazing, and so did I, until it finished and I went banana’s on sugar and felt like crap. I guess what I learnt is that for me, its better to keep it short and simple.
A 3 month cleanse sounds like a wonderful idea, of course there will be benefits, but if doing it is torture for you then your not sending any positive energy into your body, and for me, that is more destructive than anything you can eat. Why would you live 3 months of your precious life unhappy?
Its a bit crazy when you look at it like that, but we all do it, and as long as your growing and learning then nothing is lost, but really, if you LOVE coffee and make yourself give it up, its all your going to think about, that kind of mental process isnt going to end well, because chances are you’ll set yourself up to fail and that will make you feel guilty, and really, I think negative emotions/thoughts are just as destructive as 9 expresso’s before lunch!
So, figure out what works for you, maybe your more a ” half a day” detox kind of person, do what feels self loving, if your not really in the head space to detox, then don’t. Love your choices, be empowered by them. You are at the helm of your own life, what a kick arse place to be. Sure, you’ll absolutely benefit on a spiritual/mental/emotional level from cutting out sugar/alcohol/ coffee. Yes, you’ll feel clearer and notice it in your physical appearance, perhaps you’ll become more in tune with yourself, but unless your enjoying it, you won’t maintain it, so make it work for you. Your intuitve self knows everything already, but when we constantly operate outside of ourselves we turn the volume of our intuition right down, and then we think that living outwardly fixes what feels out of balance within us.
Start on the inside, and if cutting out your morning coffee supports that then go for it. But remember that the vibration of your intention has a lot of power, love your choices, and watch your health respond.
With love.
