With the start of Rosemount Australian Fashion Week beginning today, Rescu. is excited to preview a show that will no doubt give us a sneak peak at the future of fashion, both in Australia and abroad. The RAFW Raffles International Design Showcase promises to bring a unique collaboration of the next generation of fashion designers from Sydney, Singapore and Shanghai together, in one amazing show to be held as part of RAFW on Friday May 6 at the Overseas Passenger Terminal.
The Designers
Fashion-lovers will be treated to a refreshing east-meets-west display that will showcase the work of six of the most talented graduates from Raffles College of Design and Commerce.
Byron McGilvray (Sydney Australia):
Known for his theatrical design aesthetic, Byron’s avant-garde pieces promise to bring the ‘wow’ factor to the RAFW runway.
Peggy Hartanto (Sydney, Australia):
Having graduated with several awards and now working with Australian label Collette Dinnigin, it would seem that women’s wear designer Peggy Hartano’s brave move from Indonesia to Sydney in pursuit of a fashion dream is finally becoming a reality.
Winson Tan (Sydney, Australia):
With his own label ‘NOSNIM’ and a host of international awards including ‘Most Promising Designer’, his experimentation with cutting and fabrication have led to a range of ready-to-wear pieces that are edgy and already in high demand. (Above image.)
Crystal Tsoi (Sydney, Australia):
Originally from Hong Kong, Sydney graduate Crystal Tsoi uses her East meets West inspiration to create carefully crafted and beautiful pieces.
Erin Loh (Singapore):
Encapsulating the remnants and colours of old world cities, hot Singaporean talent Erin Loh will be debuting her 10 piece deluxe ready-to-wear collection at RAFW.
Zhigang ‘Del’ Chen (Shanghai, China):
With classic Chinese design and technique at his display, Del is excited to be showcasing his modern 10 piece collection that he believes will prove both unique and desirable to western tastes.
