Back at the Cargo Theatre for Day 4 of Rosemount Australian Fashion Week, there was a genuine hype surrounding the avant-garde stylings of Fernando Frisoni. Jennifer Hawkins, Lara Bingle, Australia’s Next Top Model’s Jonathon Pease, choreographer Nacho Pop, actress Alyssa Jane-Cook and half the cast of Project Runway Australia had gathered around the glowing red glass runway with great anticipation.
Frisoni, who began in menswear and now offers both men’s and women’s lines, is known for his relaxed tailoring and his contemporary take on classic stylings, and this collection was no exception. Presented to an electrifying soundtrack, out came a wave of bold, bright and truly modern outfits. Not shy of colour, the collection featured aquas, reds, blacks and whites on a range of flowing materials.
The draping on the men’s pants was exaggerated, yet perfectly executed – the loose tailoring twisting the classic styles into modern reinterpretations. Proving that he is able to work with the female form equally as well as the male, his final dress, a red feathered mini dress, was fun, flirty and a knockout piece.
The models wore sparkling fascinators that balanced from the foreheads and coordinated with the colours of their outfits. They moved in time to a fast, pounding beat that served to heighten the uber-cool stylings and the overall effect created was truly cutting-edge. Exciting, creative fashion.
