Whether you want to see something “sleek and wearable” (e.g. the hair at Karla Spetic), or “sci-fi beauty” like the look at Konstantina Mittas show, Rescu. has your ‘look book’ and cheat sheets.
LOOK 1 “Pure, simple and sleek” at Karla Spetic
The inspiration:
“The hair look captures the purity and simplicity of beautiful healthy hair,” says Philip Barwick, Redken Hair Director. “It’s a style that appears untouched and naïve – not coloured or over styled- which slowly is growing wild at the ends”.
Philip’s hair look is both sleek and wearable. With a minimalistic quality, the key to this look is eliminating volume at the roots, precise smoothness and incredible healthy shine.
How to get the look
1. Centre part towel dried hair.
2. Apply Redken Align 12 through the lengths and ends from top to bottom. This will give weight to the hair; leaving it smooth and straight with a high shine finish.
3. Blow dry smooth using a large radial brush. Making sure there isn’t too much volume at roots – this is key to the look, the flatter the better.
4. Lightly spray Redken Spray Starch 15 at the hair line, on the sides only and blow dry in away from the face to shape.
EXPERT TIP: Clip the hair at the temples to encourage the hair to stay off the face and minimize frizz. Remove at the last minute.
5. Spray with Redken Workforce 09 hairspray to finish. To tame flyaways or frizz, run a fine tooth comb through lengths after spraying with hairspray.
LOOK 2: “Sci-fi beauty” at Konstantina Mittas
The inspiration:
“The look is based on a Grecian goddess combined with elements of sci-fi beauty,” describes Jon Pulitano, Redken Hair Director. Jon continues saying, “It’s a hair look that demands to be noticed.”
Jon’s hair look mixes elongated, exaggerated sculptural shapes with gravity defying height and extreme texture to achieve attention grabbing results. A style difficult to tackle at home, the incredible height in this look gives a whole new meaning to the term up-do.
How to get the look
1. Prepare towel dried hair with Redken Body Full Instant Bodifier for texture and grip.
2. Spray Redken Rootful 06 for maximum lift at the roots and dry into hair.
3. Section the hair ear to ear. Then tong the entire top section. Pin each curl to the scalp and leave to set.
4. Once cool, heavily backcomb the top section to achieve as much height as possible. Spray hair with Redken Force 23 for maximum hold.
5. Tease the entire back section. Create the bulk at the back by lining three pieces of padding on top of each other and fold the hair over. Layer with lots of Redken Forceful 23 for strong hold.
6. To create the ripples at the back, use metal section clips to manipulate the shape and set the kink in place. Apply heat then leave to cool. Remove pins at the last minute.
7. Finish with Redken Forceful 23 to hold in place.
