New research from Australia’s consumer review website, TrueLocal.com.au, revealed that two thirds of women admitted they ‘let themselves go’ during winter, particularly when it comes to hair removal.A further two thirds said their exercise regime slowed over winter, so may have put on a little extra weight.Nearly half of women admitted they’re embarrassed to hit the beach because of pale and pasty skin caused by the lack of summer sun – and donning fake tan.
As summer approaches, Community Manager from TrueLocal, Shae Marlow, forecasts a surge in searches for beauty treatments. “People are in a frenzy to get summer ready. The start of spring last year saw a 45% increase in tanning salon searches, 20% increase in hair removal searches on TrueLocal as Australians attempted to de-fuzz and mask their ‘wintery white’ skin.”
Here are some surprising results from this survey. As summer approaches:
- 80% don’t feel happy with the way they look
- 80% feel pressure to look good
- 66% feel panicked and not groomed
- 56% are keen to undertake a detox/weight loss plan
- 85% are not happy with their imperfections coming into summer
- 79% of Australians would consider ways to ‘correct’ their imperfections
- 27% would consider going to the orthodontics to ‘correct’ crooked teeth
- Fo ra fifth of women, the pressure is so much that they are even contemplating cosmetic surgery.
