You won’t be able to resist the seductive hair at Ms Couture. Meanwhile, Arnsdorf will appeal to those who favour a simple ponytail. And there were looks for all occasions and personalities at Miss Unkon’s RAFW show.
LOOK 1: Angels vs. vixens at Ms Couture
The inspiration:
“This look is playing on Angels and Vixens, good versus evil. These are two completely different styles with opposing textures and finishes,” comments Tracey Hughes, Hair Director for Redken.
Tracey’s Angel look was impeccably feminine, as the girls glided down the runway with floating voluminous, Hollywood style curls.
The up-style for the vixen look was sleek and strong with an incredible, high shine finish.
How to get the look
The Angel:
1. Double-mousse towel dried hair with Redken Touch Control 05 for volume, texture and grip.
2. Starting at the bottom, curl the entire head with medium curling tongs. Pin curl to scalp and allow to set and cool.
3. Once cool, brush out with a soft boar-bristle brush for beautiful airy volume. Spray with Redken Workforce 09 for a flexible hold.
The Vixen:
1. Apply Redken Blown Away 09 to towel dried hair for heat protection and frizz control.
2. Brush hair into a tight ponytail sitting atop the head and wrap into a twisted bun.
Secure with pins. Spray with Redken Vinyl Glam 02 for a smooth and shiny finish.
3. Finish with a light spray of Redken Forceful 23
LOOK 2: The perfect ponytail at Arnsdorf
The inspiration:
Models at the Arnsdorf show strutted their way down the catwalk wearing the favoured ponytail of the seventies – straight, long and with a clean centre part.
“The beauty of this look is in its simplicity and wearability,” comments Todd Arndt, Redken Hair Director.
“The centre part keeps the look symmetrical, whilst the healthy and silky finish and slight windswept texture in the ponytail give the look its natural feel,” continued Todd.
How to get the look
1. Apply Redken Satinwear 02 to towel dried hair for mild hold and heat protection and to enhance a silky finish with natural shine.
2. Next apply Redken Touch Control 05 into the lengths for a slight amount of body and natural movement.
3. Create a centre part and blow dry hair so it’s smooth but not dead straight. Gather lengths loosely into a low ponytail, covering the tops of the ears and secure at the nape.
4. Spray Redken Workforce into the ponytail to create a slightly ruffled texture.
LOOK 3: Feminine French starlets at Miss Unkon
The inspiration:
“This look is all about the beauty of individuality,” says Alex Grahl, Redken Hair Director. “We’re creating a style that is unique to each model, but they all possess a touch of Brigitte Bardot glamour. It’s ultra feminine.” describes Alex.
In total, 16 different hair looks were created for the show. Paying homage to the French starlet, each of the models were prepped with beautiful voluminous curls.
To get the same great fullness and tousled texture, try following Alex’s expert steps below:
1. Apply Redken Satinwear 02 to towel dried hair for mild hold, heat protection and silky shine. Blow dry the hair smooth with a large radial brush.
2. Spray Redken Style Connection Wool Shake 08 at the roots. Shake the hair up and out for wool-like volume. Repeat the process on the ends.
3. Next, wrap sections of hair around triple barrel tongs in a figure 8 motion, holding the tongs on a vertical angle. Pin curl to the scalp and spray with Redken Workforce 09, leave to cool.
4. Once cool, remove pins and gently brush out with a soft bristle brush.
EXPERT TIP: Spray Redken Style Connection Wool Shake 08 to help build extreme texture into the hair. Or make a side part, backcomb the top lengths and pull hair back into a low ponytail for a modern take on the Bardot beehive.
