Seeking a little bit of fruitiness in your outfit? Rescu. has the cure…
Blame Dolce & Gabanna’s chilli pepper earrings: food is in for accessories, and Rescu. loves it.
The magic is all in the size: tiny charms in vivid colours. You know it’s a bona fide trend when the Victoria & Albert Museum in London starts selling banana earrings.
It’s all very 1950s. The trend can be worn with a gigantic cotton house dress and wedge sandals, plus red lipstick – or you can go all black, with just an edge of eccentricity in your blueberry earrings.
Whatever the styling, now’s the time to pile up the fruit bowl in your accessories cabinet.
Colour is what matters here. Look for clay, plastic or polymers, which have vibrant colours lasting for ages. Alternatively, go for muted, faded palettes in autumnal shades.
If you’re a true vintage fan, scan the accessories departments of local vintage stores for their takes on it.
Look for flamboyance: an entire necklace ringed with tiny apples, cherries bunched at the ears. You want to have a Carmen Miranda feel.
If it’s all too over-the-top for you, venture into prints. Button earrings are always good for muted versions of trends: find a version with a fabric covered in fruit or veg, and you’re set.
For higher-end elements, Swarovski has crystal apples and cherry charms, and Kenneth Lane has some delicious subtle fruit charm bracelets.
Are you ready to get delicious?
