Sexy, bold and confident. Lisa Ho proves why her label has been a hit amongst fashion editors and celebrities worldwide, for nearly 20 years.
Background and History
Lisa Ho has been a leader in the Australian’s women’s wear market since her eponymous label was established in 1982. Lisa’s background in fashion design started at the tender age of 4, when she began sewing in her home town of Albury. After a short stint working for another company, Lisa took the reigns and began her own label as a small stall at Sydney’s popular Paddington Markets in 1982. Now, nearly two decades later, the Lisa Ho fashion house is a name that all Australian’s are associated with, be it for her ever inventive, yet timeless and feminine designs.
On an international scale, Lisa Ho has been recognized amongst the world’s most well respected editors and high end fashion magazines. The list of celebrity fans who adore her label are endless, with a few including Elle Macpherson and Olivia Newton-John.
Style and Philosophy
The Lisa Ho aesthetic is always feminine, with a focus on creating elegant evening wear and flirty cocktail dresses. Vintage textiles have long acted as a strong influence on the designer, as she willingly plays with the idea of romanticism through layering and the fusing of soft, floating fabrics. Lisa also contrasts bold prints against one another, working with sophisticated designs that have that special eye catching detail that makes her designs stand out from the crowd.
The latest collection to come from the fashion house, for Winter 2010, took a new direction for the Lisa Ho aesthetic that we have all come to know and love. Lisa took a daring approach to her designs with an almost all black collection, with a strong modern-grunge appeal, whilst still remaining sophisticated and wearable. The departure from her usual feminine frocks and bright statement prints was a move that was welcomed as a daring new step for the designer to renovate her look.
Despite the obvious change in aesthetic, the Lisa Ho customer, whom the designer states has “an appreciation for detail and knows the importance of building on her wardrobe staples” would find that the fundamental ingredients of sophistication, romanticism and innovation all resonate in Lisa Ho’s latest work.
