Australian-raised Richard Nicoll’s Spring 2011 collection featured strong, layered designs in airy silks and chiffons that were sculpted into graphic, clean-silhouetted high-waisted trousers, miniskirts, sheer vests and panelled jackets in strict blacks and whites, offset by pale peaches and roses.
Nicoll took his inspiration from the transitional era between early 70s glam rock and the beginning of punk. M·A·C makeup artist Sam Bryant based the models’ equally stark looks on a modern take on a 90s David Bowie to go with Nicoll’s vision.
Eyes:
1. Bryant applied Morange lipstick sheer along lower lash line, across lid and up to brow and extended out slightly to create a 90s feel.
2. He then blended Dusk cream colour base into socket line with brush 219.
3. Bryant slicked clear Lipglass onto the upper lid and bleached out brows.
Lips:
1. Bryant mixed Morange lipstick and Studio Sculpt foundation together and them patted onto lips.
2. He used Luna cream colour base to highlight cupid’s bow and down centre of lip and topped it with gold pigment.
Face:
1. Using brush 188, Bryant applied Studio Sculpt foundation to skin.
2. He applied Morange lipstick on and under the cheekbones and up through the temples.
3. Bryant used Dusk cream colour base underneath cheekbone to contour.
4. He then highlighted tops of cheekbones and centre of the nose with Shell cream colour base.
