Two of our favourite pop stars will be revealing new sets come December and we can’t wait! Here’s some goss on the scents.
Rihanna’s Rebelle
Rebel pop star Rihanna launched her debut scent Reb’l Fleur earlier this year. The name Reb’l Fleur was a reference to a nickname her grandmother gave the singer when she was growing up in Barbados but her new fragrance name was up to her fans. The S&M singer asked her masses of fans to vote on the name of her new fragrance through a poll on her website. 68% of participants chose ‘Rebelle’, giving the new scent it’s name.
Rebelle, which has been, “built off the sexy back of Reb’l Fleur”, will go on sale in December packaged in a variation of the original bottle. Of the new scent, Rihanna said she wanted to create something that reflected her roots in
Barbados as well as her life in New York and Los Angeles.
Rihanna has been working with Fred Purches, chairman and cheif executive officer of Parlux Fragrances Inc on both scents who recently revealed the company is also planning on eventually launching a men’s scent with the singer!
Katy Perry’s Meow
Katy Perry also has a second scent hitting shelves in December. The ‘California Girl’ is following up her first fragrance ‘Purr’ with ‘Meow’, a scent she describes as the, “perfect snapshot” of her busy life. She told People, “The first fragrance was more floral, by a long while, and this one is a lot more edible. It’s the perfect snapshot of where my head is right now, especially being on tour.”
Katy says she wants to “make memories” with her latest scent, a combination of honeysuckle, pear, vanilla, musk and amber. She says, “I think that you can hear a song, and it’ll take you back to that moment, or that person, or that time in your life. Same thing with your sense of smell — it’s really powerful. So I thought I could make memories with people with Purr or Meow.”
27-year-old Katy’s Purr bottle was an incredible purple cat-shape and the new fragrance will be housed in a pink cat-shaped bottle which she says was inspired by the markets she visited when she was younger, saying, “I grew up going to flea markets, and all the vintage stores and the Rose Bowl in Los Angeles. I’d always look for milk glass—that beautiful, vintage milk glass that held candles or salt and pepper. I definitely wanted to use it for Meow.”
