Rihanna has unveiled her second collaboration with Armani and the reception from the design legend has been glowing and Cameron Diaz reveals the painful cost of her glamorous Met Ball gown.
The ‘Rude Boy’ hitmaker has teamed with Armani Jeans and Emporio Armani Underwear once again and the company are delighted with her designs.
Giorgio Armani said, ”Rihanna is a great artist. She has personality, charisma and energy, and has been a pleasure to work with. She captures the young and contemporary essence of Emporio Armani Underwear and Armani Jeans perfectly.”
The latest collections from Rihanna – who has been the face of both labels for the past two seasons – includes four t-shirts, three denim pieces, a boiler suit, shorts, shoes, a canvas bag in two sizes and a leather jacket for Armani Jeans, while there is also a selection of matching sets for Emporio Armani Underwear.
Rihanna has previously spoken of her desire to have her own fashion line, admitting she wants to be taken seriously as a designer rather than simply endorse a range of products.
She said, ”I’m really pursuing a fashion line of my own. I want to design.
”This is also a road that I want to earn it. So I’m working with designers. Designers that I respect, and [fashion] companies that I respect. I want people to really trust me before I just say ‘Buy it, because it’s mine.”’
The ‘What to Expect When You’re Expecting’ actress wore a 10 kg gold Stella McCartney gown to The Costume Institute Gala earlier this week, but it was so heavy when she first tried it on, she had to have part of it cut out.
Speaking after the ball, she told TV show ‘Late Night with Jimmy Fallon’, ”It was just strips and strips of rhinestones. ”Stella sends me this email on Friday, like ‘Babe, your dress might be a little heavy.’
”I put it on for the last alteration and it’s 30 pounds. We managed to cut eight pounds out of that dress. My knees are so sore today!”
Cameron wasn’t the only one who had to deal with an unwieldy dress at the ball, as ‘Vampire Diaries’ actress Nina Dobrev had to be cut out of her Donna Karan atelier gown every time she wanted to visit the bathroom and then sewn back in afterwards.
She told talk show host Conan O’Brien, ”It was so form fitted and made of vintage gold metal, and so tight. It was beautiful.
”They literally had to sew me into it so everything fit and then they sent me off.”
Explaining how she visited the restroom, she added, ”You call the designer and they have an emergency sewing kit, they cut you out of it, and then they’ll sew you back in.”
