Our cross-country fashion marathon has now taken an exciting turn, leading us to Milan for a little Dolce Vita. Unlike some of the more hardened fashionistas, we at Rescu. are not suffering from frock overload or hunger pains, but rather, we’re inspired by the Italian food, Italian men and of course the Italian fashions, which is why we are here after all. A wise lady told us this morning that shopping costs don’t count when they are in foreign currencies – so our fashion wishlist is becoming longer and our Euros are ready to burn.
When we think of Just Cavalli by Roberto Cavalli, images come to mind of wild leopard prints and revealing lace, but the spring 2010 Just Cavalli collection didn’t have an animal print in sight. Instead models were sent down the catwalk in eclectic, hippie-chic designs with layers and delicately floating fabrics in soft pinks and minted greens. A style that was perfectly complemented by their loose, flowing hair.
Cavalli decided to mix things up for this season’s collection. He played with layers and fabrics, swapped textures and colours, used underwear as outerwear, placed sheer netting under ruched, fitted silks and combined tight and deconstructed jeans with layered vests and loose long t-shirts.
Rather than the usual Cavalli ‘Sex Goddess’, the Just Cavalli woman this season is more ethereal, with the message that was even printed on dresses being ‘Heal the world, make it a Cavalli place’.
