The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge landed in Wellington, New Zealand with their little prince in tow earlier this week after enduring a 25-hour flight from London and today marks just one week until the family will be hopping on a plane once again for the far shorter flight to Sydney.
Here’s five fast facts to keep you in the know with the tour…
- There will be 30 dress changes for Kate
Much was made of Kate’s tour outfits, with a rumored 30 outfits to be worn over the 19-day trip. So far, the Duchess’ first outfit has made the biggest splash thanks in large part to just how regal it truly is. The striking red coat by Catherine Walker and matching pillbox hat by Gina Foster was something you’d expect to see on the Queen herself! Today photographs of the Duchess in a far more ‘Kate’ outfit have emerged, but she’s still sporting a far longer hemline than we’re used to seeing!

The Royals are scheduled to attend an Easter service at St Andrew’s Cathedral in Sydney ahead of a visit to Taronga Zoo. When Prince George was born, the Australian government made a donation to the zoo’s bilby preservation program so we can only imagine the family will be checking out that bilby enclosure! - Royal Date Night
When we get rid of the kids for a night, we might go to the movies and dinner. When Kate and Wills leave George with his Spanish super nanny for a night, they go 500 miles away to spend two nights away wine tasting and white-water rafting in Queenstown!
During this romantic time, the couple have booked an entire 10-suite resort, Matakauri Lodge, to themselves and it’s rumoured to be worth around $11,000 a night.

Naturally, the royals couldn’t embark on a trip as big as this one without a little help from their staff. The family are travelling with Prince George’s nanny Maria Borrallo; the advisor who helped mentor Kate, Sir David Manning; Kate’s hair stylist Amanda Cook Tucker, Kate’s personal assistant Rebecca Deacon; and William’s private secretary Miguel Head just to name a few!
The staff are funded by Prince Charles through the Duchy of Cornwall estate. - In the Sky
The Queen had to give the family special permission to fly together for the Royal Tour 2014 as having two heirs in the sky is an event that is typically avoided at all costs. Surprisingly, the family travelled on a scheduled commercial flight. But, naturally, they had the entire first class section reserved!
