By Jenna BlackRescu. resident expert and one of Australia’s most respected designers, Alex Perry, showcased his outstanding show on Saturday at Rosemount Sydney Fashion Festival.
The sold-out show begun with a short talk by Alex where he spoke of his inspiration from beautiful Middle Eastern women, vast deserts and exotic gold. He also stated that the soundtrack accompanying the beautiful showcase was a favourite of his!
As the show begun, we were immediately swept away with the attention to detail and exquisite tailoring of each Alex Perry design. The entire collection focuses on a colour palette of gold, cream, nudes and black with ravishing touches of colour through violets and show stopping animal prints.
Alex showcased his must have body con dress, which features a bustier cup and adds definition and shape to any female form. Designed to wear underneath a dress for shaping or on its own for the daring, this unique design worked as the solid foundation for many of his lavish pieces.
With a number of Australia’s best models working the runway, including new favourite Samantha Harris, Alex’s pieces truly shined. Nude, sheer and cream featured largely with fine sequined and hand sewn detail in gold. Guests were wowed as stunning zebra print entered the runway, and short party dresses worked into long elegant evening wear.
We loved the sophisticated and flattering cut of the Alex Perry tulip style dress in black and white, which is great for a variety of body shapes. For the daring, sexy body con dresses flirted their way down the runway, covered in a range of detail, from leaf sequin designs to flowing soft feathers.
Tulle is a girl’s best friend, and Alex worked this stunning fabric into elegant long dresses that floated with boundless detail. As the show neared an end, models worked beautiful, show stopping evening dresses on the runway- it was hard to choose a favourite when they were all so beautiful! To end the show, the designer himself walked the runway, and even brought out three of this year’s Australia’s Next Top Model contestants out to showcase their designs and chat about the hit show (pictured below).
Overall the show was packed with entertainment and beauty- a stunning success!
