The nude look continued to reign supreme on day three of Fashion Week Australia, with bare eyes and lips, glowing complexions and soft, wafting hairstyles the order of the day.
Talulah was one of the biggest highlights, with a fun and playful beauty look that reflected the brands colourful beach chic perfectly. Models were bronzed and sunkissed, with their hair tied in loose topknots with feminine bows.
‘The look that we’re going for is really effortless,’ said lead makeup artist, Alphie Sadsad for Bobbi Brown. ‘It’s just super chic, really easy… just making the skin shine and making that natural glow happen.’
Sadsad nailed this ‘effortless’ look, as models paraded down the runway in aviators, kaftans and layers of beads, they looked like they had simply rolled out of bed completely stunning.
Another highlight was the Christopher Esber show, which featured a loose floating hairstyle by ghd’s Alan White. The show had deeply historical roots, inspired by the ‘working women of the sea’, the women of the 1940s who held down the european home front whilst the men were off at war. Alan White continued this theme through his design of the hair look.
‘We want to get wind in their hair,’ said White. ‘As they walk down the runway we want it to feel like the sea breeze is just in their hair and it’s just wafting away.’
KMS California’s Ida Tirimacco created a similarly light and floating look for the Cameo runway show, whilst Nigel Stanislause created an effortlessly nude makeup look for the fabulous Toni Maticevski runway show.
With all of the natural beauty looks on show, we couldn’t help but be in awe of the subtle magic the hair and makeup artists were working backstage, adding just the right amount of style to create looks that transcended reality whilst being almost invisible.
