From diamond embellished faces to the ultimate in structured ponytails, day two of Fashion Week Australia was an absolute wealth of hair and beauty inspiration.
Aurelio Corella set the day off to a spectacular start, with a runway presentation that drew on rich colour and plenty of embellishment to evoke the ultimate in edgy glamour. The fashion was complimented by MAC Cosmetics’ James Molloy’s 1930s inspired makeup which featured a pink lip and silk-like porcelain complexion. Diamontes were used to raise this makeup look to a fantastical and imaginative level.
Hair was similarly theatrical, with a high hair look created by Goldwell’s Lee Preston of Lee Preston Hairdressing. ‘We wanted to go with quite a masculine look with a feminine twist to it,’ said Preston. ‘So we decided to go with this strong quiff but it’s got squareness to the shape, just to make it a little bit more directional, and a little bit more different.’
This squared quiff was combined with vibrant hair extensions and rich goldwell hair colour for a look that managed to be both dramatic and highly enviable.
Alex Perry’s show was expected to be a hair and beauty standout, but the runway event, led by none other than Victoria’s Secret Angel Alessandra Ambrosio exceeded even our highest expectations. The makeup look was very nude, a theme that was also carried through by johnny., STRATEAS.CARLUCCI and Ellery shows. The hair was similarly natural and dreamy, fanning romantically behind the models as they strutted in their glittered and lace dresses.
We loved the choice of navy nails by Alex Perry. Many designers have been opting for nude shades this year, and we were thrilled to see a bolder nail choice. ‘Alex actually hand picked this shade himself,’ said Essie Au Nail Director Ali Magliveras. ‘This colour runs through his collection, and he wanted something that was fashion forward and classic, so it’s a purple navy.’
This nail look is the ideal choice for anyone who wants to go for standout nails, but doesn’t want to go all the way to a black shade.
At five in the evening, fashion lovers flocked to the Eveleigh Markets industrial building, for the much anticipated Bec and Bridge show. We absolutely loved the Bec and Bridge beauty look, which combined classic bronzed beach babe complexions with painterly gold eye makeup. MAC Cosmetics Senior Artist Nicole Thompson even went so far as to create freckles on the models faces, for the ultimate ‘hazy bronzy look’.
