Rescu. talked with Bachelorette, 2DAY FM Breakfast host and Alpha Keri ambassador, Sam Frost about her beauty routine and evolution of style.
Read below to find out Sam’s trick to a healthy, beautiful skin.
RESCU: What are 3 grooming tips you learnt from The Bachelorette?
Sam: The best tips I learnt from my time on the Bachelorette are:
1. Always give you skin a chance to breathe! Don’t apply heavy makeup every single day, and make sure you give your pores some time off.
2. Hydrate and moisturise your hair and skin. I spent every night looking after my skin with great quality products and did hair treatments at least once a week.
3. Heat protection spray is my best friend. We changed hairstyles sometimes four times a day, with hot tongs and blow dryers, it can do a lot of damage to your hair.
RESCU: How has your style changed since being on the show?
Sam: My everyday style hasn’t really changed, I’m still the same old dag I’ve always been! My 2016 Logies Dress by Steven Khalil is definitely a favourite of mine, but I also like to change up my style from event to event.
RESCU: What’s your top beauty secret?
Sam: Hydration. Keeping hydrated is SO essential for beautiful skin. I’m a bit obsessive when it comes to moisturising (I used to suffer from eczema and dry skin, and it was something that I would feel quite self-conscious about), so investing in quality cleansers and moisturisers is extremely important to me. I will sip water and tea constantly throughout the day, and will religiously apply moisturiser morning and night – Alpha Keri’s Intensive Recovery Cream has got to be a favourite.
RESCU: If you were going away for a week and could only take three beauty products, what would they be?
Sam: My beauty routine is pretty simple, so picking three things wouldn’t be too hard. I would probably take:
1. First I would pack my trusty lip balm. This one is definitely a non-negotiable – dry lips are one hundred percent my biggest pet peeve.
2. Second I would take a good quality moisturiser (surprise, surprise!). No matter where I am or what I’m doing, I make time in my routine to moisturise.
3. Lastly I would definitely take a tinted moisturiser. I literally wear this stuff everyday, it’s so quick and simple yet still provides enough coverage. And it moisturisers at the same time – what a bonus! Always look for one with SPF, to protect your skin too.
RESCU: Describe the beauty look you aim to achieve every day and a hack you have for achieving it?
Sam: I like to keep my everyday look quite simple. I like my beauty routine to be as effortless as possible – especially with my early starts for breakfast radio. I still wear makeup to work because we often do filming for the show, but casual and effortless is definitely my go-to look. Less is more in my books.
My best beauty hack is using products that work their magic overnight. I want to be able to get ready quickly in the morning, so I’ll spend time in the evening looking after my skin and hair. Popping on a nourishing night cream before bed is something I won’t go without – and trust me you’ll thank yourself for it in the morning.
RESCU: What does your morning vs night time beauty routine entail?
Sam: My morning beauty routine is down to about 10-15 minutes max – I’m up at 4am and out the door by 4.30am! Normally in the morning I cleanse and moisturise my skin, pop on some tinted moisturiser, a sweep of blush (Nars Orgasm (colour)) and mascara (Too Faced Better Than Sex) and my Lucas Paw Paw Ointment and bundle my hair into a ponytail or topknot and it’s out the door.
As I mentioned my nightly beauty routine is normally a little longer. In the evening I usually spend a little more time looking after my skin and hair. The one thing I do every night is moisturise religiously, I pride myself on healthy skin – it’s out of the shower and hydrate straight away. For my hair I am obsessed with Olaplex and I usually leave it in overnight – this stuff leaves my hair totally nourished and is the only reason I’ve been able to go lighter.
RESCU: What’s your favourite beauty feature to accentuate when you’re getting dolled up?
Sam: Probably my eyes or my eyebrows. I try to keep my look natural, yet feel beautiful, so I don’t like to go over the top. But you can have a lot of fun here – you can really change a look with a flick of eyeliner, a touch of shimmery eye shadow or a bold brow. Whatever look I am going for when I’m getting dolled up I try to keep it simple, I want to feel pretty but I also want to look like me!
