Samantha Jade has won The X Factor last night with the show granting her another chance at the pop career she had almost given up on.
Jade is the first female artist to win the X Factor title since the show was taken on by Channel 7 in 2010, beating out The Collective and Jason Owen for the crown.

“I’m still shocked to be honest,” Jade said just a few hours after her name was announced as the winner live on national TV. “I actually still can’t believe I won.”
As the dark horse of the 2012 series, Jade finished in the bottom two more often than any other contestant.
Yet her more recent performances proved to get the audience on side and she’s now being hailed as a worthy successor to Australian pop princess Kylie Minogue.
“Samantha has proven what a tenacious young woman and strong contender she has been since day one and I am really excited that we will be releasing an album of Samantha’s incredible journey on the show in time for Christmas,” Sony CEO Denis Handlin said.
Her debut record, titled Samantha Jade, features re-recorded versions of the songs she performed during her time on the show and is set to be released on December 7.
Jade’s brand new single ‘What You’ve Done To Me’ which she performed live after her big win last night is already climbing the charts.
It’s a far cry from when the petite singer was dropped by record company Jive in 2008 after failing to hit stardom in Hollywood.
“I tried for years after I got dropped to get another deal and people wouldn’t even take a meeting,” she said.
As for X Factor judge Guy Sebastian, it’s the second year in a row that he has mentored one of his contestant’s to the win, last year guiding winner Reece Mastin through the series.
Jade will now be the headliner when the final six contestants of the series complete the X Factor tour in January.
