At 48, Sandra Bullock looks better than ever it seems, still rocking best dressed titles on red carpets and with her new hit movie ‘Gravity’ upon us, I thought it was high time to play a little Sandra copy cat!
For some time now, Sandra has been a knockout on red carpets. Not much of a risk taker, keeping most of her looks classic, in fashion and in beauty, but it always works.
She has had more hairstyles than a hairdresser over the years from short bobs, to feathered waves, slick straight and a range of tones from light to dark, voted many times in ‘best hair’ categories.
Her makeup, however, doesn’t change that often and definitely has a signature look to it, very rarely adding slightly more ‘smokey’ shadows and the occasional bold lip. Keeping this classic style gives her elegance and class for any occasion and definitely now in her late 40’s is age appropriate, but she does add a little sexiness don’t you think?
A very Sandra Bullock beauty look looks a little like this…
L: CinemaCon 2013, C: Oscars 2013, R: Toronto International Film Festival 2013
These three top looks of 2013 may have a slight difference in shades, but style is pretty much the same with Sandra. She knows what works with her face and the shape, plus style of makeup is a definite Sandra Bullock signature.
Let’s break it down…
Skin
Sandra always has flawless skin!
Even toned, yet dewy is definitely a look she sports well. Even though you know she is wearing foundation, it still looks realistic because of the tone and texture of the product, plus adding the colour on her cheeks makes all the difference.
Sandra very rarely is never not wearing a pop of a warm pink blush on the apple of the cheeks, with the right amount, this can make any skin look fresh, giving shape and lift.
There is a little contouring, but nothing over the top as she likes her skin to look as natural as possible without too much going on.
Try the Guerlain Parure De Lumière Foundation (RRP $72) to create that light diffusing, moisturised, dewy finish. Start applying from the centre of the face, and then sweeping outwards for a flawless, streak-free look.
To add that stunning warm pink glow on the apples of your cheeks, try my fave Nars Oasis Blush (RRP $45), just the smallest amount on the apples applied in a circular motion works a treat.
Eyes
One thing’s a guarantee with Sandra — her eyes will always have the signature eyeliner look, on both top and bottom lash lines, dressed up with big lashes; and it looks great!
A strong eye line is trademark, but Sandra often uses eye shadow to create her defined eyes, not always just a liquid liner.
When eye shadow is introduced, it is usually worn along the lash lines also, with a little shading into the socket. Her mobile eyelid is either left natural, or it could have a bronze or smokey grey tone used, depending on the overall look.
The more nude her lip is, the more smokey grey shadow is used on the eyelids, like the above picture from the Toronto International Film Festival.
Lashes are key for Sandra’s looks, and she naturally has a good set, but for most red carpets opting for a little outer corner lash additions to give a little more wing to her brown eyes.
My fave all in one shadow set is the Illamasqua Neutral Palette (RRP $53)
I love this combo and that the two darker shades are matte – perfect for contouring the socket and great to use these shades as an eyeliner with a thin brush, just like Sandra’s trademark liner look.
The bronze shimmer is a great pop for the mobile eyelid, or even as a wash worn alone across the entire eyelid for a summer days glow.
The lightest shade is great for under the brow and then tear duct, inner corner of the eye to brighten the overall look.
Lips
We know that Sandra rocks a great nude, it’s her look, it works and I love it!
It works because she normally dresses up the eyes with deep, neutral tones and lines the eyes more than not; therefore the nude lip is a great balance.
Sandra’s nudes range from peach nude to pinks, this way it still gives a little shape and lift, otherwise it could be too flat with her darker features.
The not so often red lip has been seen on Sandra, but more recently we saw her rocking a Fuchsia lip at The Peoples Choice Awards this year…
What do you think?
Personally I like the nude lip, but maybe it is because we are not used to seeing Sandra with such colour on her face, either way, she looks damn good for 48! It just shows that you really don’t have to try to hard when we age and just need to remember to keep things simple, fresh, classic and polished.
Shu uemura has a great set of nude lipsticks and one that I have been using of late is the shu uemura Rouge Unlimited, Supreme Shine BG 911 (RRP $39)
It is a light nude with a cool undertone, which I have loved of late for all skin tones… You can warm it up with a liner, but I like that on most women, it can look a little cool, giving contrast to the rest of the face, making a statement, even though it is a nude shade.
If this shade is not for you, check out the entire range of the Shu uemura Supreme Shine lipsticks, as there are 19 shades to choose from!
So ladies, classic yet defined, fresh yet sophisticated, age appropriate yet sexy, all describes beauty for Sandra Bullock.
If a look is working for you, maybe don’t worry about trying to keep up with the latest trends; Sandra proves this well with her signature makeup look time and time again…
Lips are where you can have that little bit of fun every now and then.
We love you Sandra! Happy Copy catting this look!
