Sarah Burton chats to Sarah Jessica Parker about her former boss Alexander McQueen and Kate Middelton’s wedding gown. Montana Cox and Samantha Harris were just two of the models, in what has been a big week for Aussies on the catwalk, who took to the runway to showcase the latest fashion at the L’Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival’s Opening Night. A throng of celebrities and designers turned out for the night including Rescu. Fashion Expert Alex Perry. On the other side of the globe it has been revealed that Whitney Houston’s will has left all her possessions to only daughter, Bobbi Kristina.
Whitney Houston’s will states the celebrated singer has left everything to her 19-year-old daughter, Bobbi Kristina.
The pop superstar’s will doesn’t mention specific assets, but leaves all of her furnishings, clothing, personal effects, jewellery and cars to her “surviving children”. As Bobbi Kristina is Whitney’s only child, she is legally entitled to the lot. It has also been reported Houston’s money will be put in a trust.
Her sister-in-law and manager, Patricia Houston, was appointed the administrator of the estate. As oer the agreements when Bobbi Kristina turns 21, she will receive part of the money, more of it at age 25 and the balance at age 30. Houston’s trustees can give her money from the trust for various purposes, including tuition, to buy a home and to start a business. The will was signed on Feb. 3, 1993, about a month before Houston gave birth to her daughter.
Houston’s untimely death was a shock to the music industry and the world. Read about her incredible life here.
The power players of the Australian fashion industry were out in full force at the opening night parade of the L’Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival, showcasing the latest autumn-winter trends from David Jones.
A bevy of Australia’s top models took their stride to the catwalk including Montana Cox, Alexandra Agostin, Louise van de Vorst, Sam Harris, Kate Peck and Alice Burdeu. The models debuted the stunning, inspirational trends that will soon see home on the backs of Australian fashionistas everywhere.
Don’t think the beauty and fashion was left for the runway; front row attendees included models and brand ambassadors Megan Gale and Aimee Mullins, and were joined by burlesque beauty Dita von Teese and stylish singers Kimbra and Tina Arena for the spectacular.
More than 200 outfits were on show for by some of Australia’s top designers including Bianca Spender, Thurley, Kirrily Johnston, Carla Zampatti and Collette Dinnigan. The trend forecast hints while although black is back may be back from lace to leather, colour will take the front seat for Autumn/Winter 2012.
Magnificent jewel tones of emerald, ruby, sapphire, silver and gold featured prominently, with Harris stepping out in a spectacular silver Project D dress by Dannii Minogue.
Carla Zampatti’s pencil skirt and cropped jacket in the DJ’s tradition houndstooth pattern was fashion at it’s best, fitting like a glove on statuesque stunner Alexandra Agostin.
Once again, show stopper Collette Dinnigan’s collection oozed sultry femininity with 1940s silhouettes in navy, black and violet.
Australia’s next Top Model Winner, and fresh from the haute couture runways in Paris, Montana Cox captured the crowd’s attention in a figure hugging black lace Lover dress.
Stayed tuned for crowd favourite and Rescu. Fashion and Glamour Expert, Alex Perry, as his show hits the runway tonight at the LMFF. We can’t wait!

Sarah Burton says designing Duchess Catherine’s wedding dress was a “magical” experience.
The creative director of the Alexander McQueen fashion house says making the ivory gown for Kate’s wedding to Prince William last April was one of the most special events of her life.
She gushed, “It was a precious, magical time that I’ll always treasure, and I feel like she gave me a gift in many ways. I feel incredibly privileged.”
Talking to fellow fashionista Sarah Jessica Parker for Interview magazine, the 37-year-old designer opened up about her former boss Lee Alexander McQueen – who committed suicide in February 2010 following the death of his mother.
She said, “I do think that Lee always surrounded himself with very strong women. How he cut for a woman, made for a woman, accentuated all of a woman’s shape-it was about the extreme accentuation of a woman’s shape. It’s always about strong women here.”
Named Designer of the Year at the 2011 British Fashion Awards, Sarah admits she hasn’t always been so confident in her work.
She explained, “I remember he [Lee] pinned [the dress] on the stand, and it looked amazing. He had sort of half sewn it and he said, ‘Oh, I’m going out now. You can finish that’, and I remember thinking, ‘I can’t possibly do that!’ I called my mum immediately. I was like, ‘Oh my god, well, how am I gonna finish this?’ and she said, ‘Just get on with it’.”
