It was Crown Oaks Day yesterday and everyone was keen to see what the ladies, especially Sarah Jessica Parker, would be wearing. The stars didn’t disappoint with gorgeous frocks and headpieces.
Kim Kardashian has cut her trip to Australia short, bailing from what would have been a very lucrative appearance at the Swisse Marquee for Stakes Day.
Kate Moss has a new fragrance that she calls her most personal yet. We find out why.
And Madonna is set to launch a new line that appeals more to an older audience than the work she did with daughter Lourdes last year.
Sarah Jessica Parker: Chic and the City
Sex and the City star Sarah Jessica Parker did not disappoint at Oaks Ladies Day yesterday. Her appearance was the highlight of this year’s Spring Racing carnival for many and all eyes were on the petite 46-year-old.
Wearing a dip-dyed pink dress by London designer Jonathan Saunders with a silver coat from Antonioi Beradi, white Manolo Blahnik’s and jewels from Aussie designer Adrian Lewis, SJP was the very picture of class and sophistication. Arriving at around 2pm, the mother of three joined Liz Hurley who wore a white dress with an extravagant orchid headpiece and fiancé Shane Warne on her arm.
Joan Collins, 78, stood out in a patterend dress, a bright purple jacket and matching purple headpiece with black netting partially covering her face.
The Aussie stars looked stunning as well. Jennifer Hawkins chose a light pink one-shouldered frock with feathered detailing while Rebecca Judd opted for an white frock embellished with bronze detailing and a bronze headpiece.
Kim Kardashian Skips Stakes Day
While some Melbourne fans will be crying over their loss, we imagine there are more than a few Aussies glad to hear the news that Kim Kardashian is heading back to the US after her brief visit to Australia.
The reality star, who everyone seems to have an opinion of, has up and left before her scheduled appearance at Stakes Day. Her one-hour appearance was rumoured to be worth over $150,000 but the star made an announcements saying, “I am very disappointed that I am unable to attend the Swisse marquee but I hope to come back and work with the Swisse team in another point in time.”
Kate Moss’ Family Fragrance
Supermodel Kate Moss has had great success with her fragrances that were subtle and fresh. Now, the supermodel is set to launch a new fragrance that she describes as her most personal yet.
The scent, to be called Lillabelle, is a tribute to her nine-year-old daughter. Moss described the scent as a, “pretty, soft, fruit floriental” smell and said, “Lillabelle is my most personal fragrance yet, inspired by my daughter Lila. It is really soft and gentle scent yet also a bit daring. I created it for both grown women who want to remain young at heart and teens who want glamour and sophistication. It’s my gift to every woman and girl who lives life to the full.”
Madonna to Launch
Second Label Madonna and her daughter Lourdes created the teen label Material Girl last year with her 15-year-old daughter Lourdes. This year, the singer is starting a new collection called Truth or Dare that is aimed at an older audience and will launch with a fragrance. The range is then set to include footwear, handbags and underwear.
All this happens on the brink of Madge signing a deal with brand management company Iconix Brand Group. Of the new label, she says, “Over the past several years, I have been approached countless times to create my own brand. The timing is right and I have found great partners in Iconix, who can help translate my vision to reality.”
