Fashion trend expert, Tony Bannister believes there’s a strong message this season that designers are looking to a slightly older, powerful market – the women who can actually afford their clothes – non more so than in the leathers and furs on Milan runways.
Leather and Fur -Tony says it’s no surprise, given Milan’s history as a city of fine leathers and furs, that designers embraced the skin this season to add an edge to sophisticated shapes and layering. Instead of casual, biker styles, leather was used for its sculptural qualities at Bally, Fendi (above), Ferretti (below) and Marni.
Designers created new looks using combinations Matt and Shine leathers and furs. This wasn’t ascetic plain colour or black.
Fendi, Prada (below) and Roberto Cavalli (bottom) used different textures in matt and shine to create pieces that were sumptuous and dramatic.
