Twenty8Twelve, the fashion label created by ultimate cool chic chick Sienna Miller and her sister Savannah, helped heat up London Fashion Week with its eclectic Spring/Summer 2011 collection. The sisters’ family and close friends – including Sienna’s on-again beau, Jude Law – were in the front row.
The show drew its references from a carefree girl on her travels around the world – from Thailand to Mexico – and the result was an eclectic look; all prints and denim and pops of colour set up against a backdrop of lace and embroidery.
Superstar hairstylist Sam McKnight, global ambassador for Pantene Pro-V, said “the hair was very much inspired by Sienna and Savannah’s own style. The Twenty8Twelve girl is a London girl who’s cool and casual. The hair appears unstructured and natural, but it’s also a very clean look.”
To create the look:
1. McKnight used Pantene Pro-V Sheer Volume Shampoo and Conditioner. As Sam says: “Clean and conditioned hair is the base of any great style”. A spritz of Pantene Pro-V Light Spray Leave-In Conditioner was sprayed on the lengths to detangle hair.
2. He worked Pantene Pro-V Body Builder Mousse through damp hair from roots to ends to reduce natural frizz, then blow-dried the hair forward, from the back of the head, towards the front, to keep the hair framing the face.
3. Next, to add natural movement and a slight wave, he loosely wound random sections of hair around a large barrel tong, being careful not to clamp the hair down. He held the tong a few seconds and then released and used his fingers to comb the hair through.
4. McKnight loosely braided the hair into two braids to dial down groomed glamour. “This takes the edge off the tonging,” Sam says. “Leave your hair in braids overnight or for a couple of hours.” To speed up the process at the show, Sam pressed straightening irons along the length of the braid for a few seconds…a helpful tip if you are speed styling at home!
5. Finally, he undid the braid and worked through hair using fingers to create natural texture, then applied his finishing touch…a final ‘whoosh’ of Pantene Always Smooth Flexible Hold Hairspray, to add a little oomph.
