On the lookout for a jewellery update? Statement earrings are where it’s at – big, bold, dripping with baroque detail and all over the catwalks. Read on for the Rescu. Shopping Guide…
Big necklaces? So last season. This spring it’s all about making your earlobes strong – they’re going to need to hold up some pretty intense weight.
Statement earrings were all over the catwalk at the recent shows, from decadent and classic to sheer intense oversize madness. Here are our top picks for infusing your jewellery box with a new, on-season twist.
Cameos are a massive on-trend ticket right now. Dolce & Gabbana at Net-a-porter have ones swinging from gold chains and roses, or for an Italian flavour with a little less price tag, look for the Del Gato earrings on Forzeiri Italia’s jewellery site. Gorgeous antique look, ornate and weighty – ticks all the boxes.
The key to this season’s earrings isn’t width – it’s length. The big fashion story is shoulder-skimming numbers.
Vintage, retro looks are very in – long tassels, as shown at Oscar De La Renta, and 30s-style paste Art Deco numbers. Look out for decadence and decent make.
ASOS is currently selling a punkish twist on the tassell earring, with a vibrant orange fabric knot to give it a Marlene Dietrich feel.
And we’re absolutely loving Mimco’s current Baroque range, which takes leaves and shapes normally only seen on the base of an 18th century vase and converts them into drop-earring masterpieces.
Look for chunky, for contrasting stones, and for spike or pearl detail – and don’t hold back.
