Many of us may be unaware just how regularly we should be discarding makeup to prevent skin reactions and infections. Take a step back and look at your beauty supplies – if there are no clean spots left on the applicators, your brushes are stained bronze and your mascara is clumpy and dry, it’s time to toss!
Keep in mind:
Liquid Foundation and Concealer should be replaced about every 6 months.
Loose mineral makeup should be replaced every year.
Compact Powder and Blush lasts about 6 to 9 months.
Replace dirty brushes
Bacteria loves eye makeup! Pencil Eyeliner and Eye Shadow should be replaced every 3 to 6 months.
Liquid Eyeliner and Mascara is a breeding ground for germs. To avoid the dreaded ‘pink eye’ replaced every 3 months.
Lipstick and Lip Gloss will last about 1 year, as long as you keep them in a cool spot
