Ladies get ready, it’s that time of the year again!
Just after the international fashion weeks have showcased their latest collections and we’ve already rushed out to purchase outfits that mirror this season’s hottest trends, where better to show off our newfound sense of style than the races?
After all everyone knows the spotlight is not on the jockeys and who’s tipped to win – but on the fashions!
To make sure you’re on track with this year’s Spring racing trends Rescu. brings you the expert help of Jasu Stylemakers Mandy Shadforth from Oracle Fox, Kelly Thompson from Illustrator and Sara Donaldson from Harper & Harley to share their best race day fashion tips.

MANDY SHADFORTH (ORACLE FOX)
1. Pick an elegantly classic outfit that has a point of difference i.e. beautiful hat or fascinator, or unique but simple accessories
2. You don’t have to wear one designer from head to toe. Mixing designers in a successful way shows confidence, and a sense of fun when dressing up
3.It is really important to wear comfortable shoes, obviously they need to look good. Be prepared and pack your gel souls and bandaids just in case!

As far as trends go, Australians are fantastic at embracing colour so we will no doubt see it in abundance, pastels teamed with clashes of brights still seem pretty popular at the moment.

I anticipate many kaleidoscope floral prints thanks to the likes of Josh Goot and Romance was Born, and body con dresses I imagine will be abused!
Thanks to Yayoi Kusama and her collaboration for Louis Vuitton, polka dots seem to be filtering in to mainstream, so Im sure we will see a few of those around the place.
I hope that some of the Mad Men glam still lingers and we see girls choosing class over ass!
SARA DONALDSON (HARPER & HARLEY)
My favourites are the black and white themed race events. And my forecast is for higher neck lines and knee length hems in fitted shapes like this Dion Lee suspended dresses that still creates womanly shapes with the see through mesh.
