Stella McCartney has a new ace up her sleeve – and Rescu. has the exclusive preview.
Stella McCartney has come under world scrutiny for her Olympic outfits for Team Great Britain – not the Opening Ceremony’s space-age efforts, but the sleek competition clothes.
However, McCartney is also branching into the designer children’s clothing world, with a line of outfits and accessories entitled Little Miss Stella.
And Rescu. has the scoop.
McCartney collaborated with the people behind the Mr Men books a few years ago to create Little Miss Stella, who had a book all her own and featured on McCartney’s invitations to her shows.
It was a lovely marketing move, and now McCartney is taking it further. Stella McCartney Kids now has a seven-piece line of Little Miss Stella clothing, with a baby-gro, T-shirt and other miniature design favourites.
Designer children’s wear is a big seller despite the recession. Moschino, Burberry, Dolce & Gabbana and even Gucci produce children’s lines, all of which are far more classic and safe than their ready-to-wear and couture lines.
The world’s most famous wearers of these designer outfits? Suri Cruise and Harper Beckham.
Children’s wear was in the news last year when it was revealed there was a trend for girl’s ‘lingerie’ – sleepwear inspired by adult lingerie – in France. Commentators said it was in poor taste, but the French manufacturers stood by their decision.
Little Miss Stella is far more traditional, and also comes with colouring-in sets. Are you a devotee of designer fashion for children?
