With Earth Hour back this weekend, and Earth Month beginning on April first, now is the perfect time to show a little love to the planet.
Earth Hour Australia 2014
This Saturday, March 29th, Australia is invited to switch out the lights, and focus our attention on the urgent need to protect the earth (and in particular our very own Great Barrier Reef) from the impacts of climate change.
Earth Hour has been gaining traction every year since its inception and this year promises to be bigger than ever, with some special events in store. The world’s first Earth Hour documentary, It’s Lights Out for the Reef, will screen nationally on Saturday march 29th, revealing the true nature of the effects of climate change on the Reef, and will be hosted by Australia’s biggest YouTube star Natalie Tran. It’s Lights Out for the Reef will feature appearances by Australia’s best known science communicators Dr Karl and Tim Flannery, and will be screened at more than 1000 community events and gatherings around Australia, and on Network Ten at 4.30pm, before the lights out moment at 8.30pm this Saturday.
On Wednesday, March 26th, Earth Hour has also launched a one of a kind music video, reminding us all to get on board and switch off the lights this weekend. Written and performed by The Axis of Awesome, the video features the likes of Rob Mills, John Paul Young, Imogen Bailey, Michael Caton, Libby Trickett, Kristy Hinze and more.
‘We’re thrilled to have such great Aussie talent joining in our Earth Hour celebrations to inspire action on climate change before it’s ‘lights out’ for one of the world’s most iconic sites, the great Barrier Reef,’ Says Earth Hour National Manager, Anna Rose.
