Unlike celebs from Hollywood or London, Nicole Kidman, Elle Macpherson, and Cate Blanchett seem ever-glowing with little makeup, and no obvious surgical enhancements. Even the next generation of beauties, such as Abbie Cornish; Natalie Imbruglia and Naomi Watts, have consistently ranked amongst the most beautiful women in the world.
I can attest to having spent endless hours huffing at the gym, having tried every yogic trend from Bikram to Iyengar, having subjected myself to being ripped, wrapped and even lasered by my beautician. I’ve detoxed, and dieted, and yet when I catch my reflection in the mirror, it encapsulates neither the locks of Kidman, the body of Macpherson, nor the skin of Blanchett. But why?
Somehow I refuse to accept their claims of fabulous figures sculpted from merely chasing the children, but nor am I disheartened by the cry that their gorgeous glowing skin resulting from simply being deliriously “happy on the inside”.
No, I suspect that these Aussie starlets procure an unnatural, yet admirable, amount of discipline when it comes to achieving their natural gorgeousness, and here, we reveal the secrets.
She may have once touted that love is the key to her beauty, and no doubt it helps, but Nicole Kidman, like many of our fairer stars, keeps her skin youthful by staying out of the sun, vigilantly. She is notoriously sun phobic and is devoted to sunscreen and chemical peels.
Kidman also employs personal trainer Jenna Phillips, who reportedly recommends that her clients do 45 minutes of exercise 6 days a week, and eat 5 small meals per day, with dessert to be eaten at lunchtime. When in Sydney, Nic and hubby Keith Urban are regularly spotted doing Spin classes at Bondi Fitness First.
To keep her locks luscious, it has also been reported that Kidman has a bubbly solution – or rather she rinses her hair in champagne. There have also been multiple sightings of Nicole Kidman at various Chanel counters across the globe- buying, yes buying, her Chanel No. 5 (she was the face of the fragrance for several years) and make-up.
Elle Macpherson will likely attribute her glowing skin to her Body bath and body skin-care collection, but we know better. She also promotes her devotion to organic food and her disciplined twice daily exfoliation and moisturising routine by using products such as Dr Hauschka cleanser as keys to her skin care. Let’s not forget that she’s recently appeared as the face of Model Co Erase those Lines and is now an official spokesperson for Revlon.
Elle was recently quoted in the November issue of Good Health Magazine, as able to solve her rough feet by merely walking along the beach, but I fear that these alone are not the true secrets behind her knockout body. What she didn’t mention was the hard-core soft sand running, which has those thighs looking incredible year after year!
I’d wager that her penchant for yoga, running, water skiing, skiing, hiking and surfing are the real reason for achieving that body – I’m burning calories just thinking about it.
Cate Blanchett is more guarded with what keeps her fabulous – apart, of course, from her religious use of SK-II skin care products, for which she is the well paid brand representative.
She has occasionally mentioned Pilates and is known for staying well clear of the sun (she even admitted once to carrying a parasol in her younger years), but this anti-botox beauty who is revered for her devotion to her craft, is no doubt equally disciplined when it comes to health and fitness, yet the mystery as to her exercise routine remains.
