As the crowd of fashion-lovers, fashion stars and fashionistas sipped pink champagne, ate pink fairy floss and devoured the most delightful pink cupcakes at The Piano Room, all in the name of breast cancer, the 2010 Fashion Palette was officially launched.
The event itself will take place over Friday the 8th and Saturday the 9th of October at Sydney’s Circular Quay, and is known for being a launch platform for many of Australia’s budding fashion design talent.
Fitting in with the pink theme, and clearly the stars of the show, were three Australian designed pink dresses that were part of the silent auction to raise funds for this important research. Wayne Cooper, Sydney’s Anaessia, and Brisbane’s Edwina McLennan had kindly designed and donated their ethereal dresses to be bid upon at this silent auction.
The first of the stunning three was the creation of Wayne Cooper – a soft pink dress that resembles a short empire gown, which was both flirty and effeminate.
Anaessia had created a dress in a similar colour to Wayne Cooper’s, but featuring a bold tiering of fabric, giving it distinctive shape and allure.
Edwina McLennan proved that she too is also happy to make a statement. Her dress had what appeared to be patterned pyramids, made up of different prints, which gave a very Japanese, if not origami-like feel to it.
Australia’s Next Top Model’s Josh Finn, singer Jon Stevens, and designers Wayne Cooper and Charlie Brown were amongst the more notable attendees. The crowd was well entertained and a lot of fun was had by all as a great young fashion event was launched, and money and awareness were raised for the Cancer Council in support of Pink Ribbon Day.
